notes
Hello, I'm Scott Benningfield from Louisville, KY. I grew up there in Louisville but live in Savannah, GA now. I grew up listening to the Beatles (et al from the sixties) along with the current 80s music abounding. In college, my affinity for alternative rock (i.e. Nirvana et al) grew. My parents were very influential in my musical development. My brothers (Dan and Tony)/sister (Jenni) and I took piano lessons and my father encouraged me to take guitar while in college. My father can play guitar and my mother has a wonderful voice. Eventually, my brother Dan and I played together in some rock bands (Knobbs, Cat Club). So, with the encouragement of my parents and siblings and the variety of music I listened to, all of this helped mold me and my style of music.
This is the second cd for this Acoustic Lighthouse Experiment project. The first cd is called "Let" (also available on cdbaby.com).
After being in some rock bands and growing in appreciation of the acoustic element of music ~ its purity, beauty, simplicity ~ I decided to do an acoustic album ("Let"). Since that came out years ago, I've grown in songwriting and craftsmanship. This cd ("Walls") has more instrumentation and a wider, varied range of music (acoustic rock [song 1 and 4], ballads [cello in song 11!], electric rockers [songs 9 and 12], and international instrumentation [such as indian drum/tibetan bell in song 6 and drop 'd' tuning/udu drum in song 14]). I'm very happy and excited with the end product and feel that the cd can resonate on many different moods and feelings. I hope you enjoy the cd........Peace and Love.........Scott
Also, be on the look-out in early 08 for my 3rd album ("Crumble") - the conclusion to my acoustic trilogy.
"Let" "Walls" "Crumble" will be my social commentary in this world of hate and discordant human relations and even to our inner selves. I've already written many of the songs and have recently added a few. I'm getting excited about it. Thanks for your support. Best wishes.
