notes
Postmodern Panache is David Belmont’s first major release of original material since WindWater Excursions, which Music Web Express called “one of the finest ambient Instrumental albums of the recent past.” The recently expanded WindWater Ensemble adds more American jazz to their new age/world fusion sound. Feature tracks are Mr. Miles, a dedication to Miles Davis and Germania: theme from the award-winning independent film “Nothing Really Happens.” Also in the collection are extended versions of Sedona, the band’s tour de force, and the Beatles’ Blue Jay Way, featuring David on world dobro and vocals.
David Belmont, whose eclectic composing and arranging date back to the early 1970s when he was active in Manhattan’s rock and performance art scenes, has incorporated elements from an array of influences, ranging from Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul to Ry Cooder and Ali Akbar Khan…via the classic improvisational rock bands (Dead, Allmans, Little Feat, Hendrix).

The Album To Unwind To
author: GrifinMilHad a chance to see David Belmont and his group play live about a week ago. They were so good I bought a cd on my way out. It is a very accomplished album and one you can play over and over to release the stress of the day. Songs like Germania, Mr. Miles (a tribute to Miles Davis)and Another Sunrise are highlights. The musicianship and the production are pristine. Definitely worth checking out.
