When I first played a cut from Furious Fancies for one of our long-time fans, she listened a while and then said, "So this is like the serious part just before you get funny, right?" "No, it's not," I replied. "This is a serious song. The whole album is serious music." "Oh, c'mon, Uncle Cedric," she replied, "the Bedlam Bards don't know any serious songs!" I knew right then that we had to finish this album just to prove that we are real musicians. Take a listen to any of the samples, and I think you'll agree that it worked. After that conversation, I went to the owner of the faire and told him that we would need one set a day outside of the pub, so that we could play music suitable for the whole family. That was the origin of our "sit-down set" (as in, "They told us we had to play on this stage, and we told them we wouldn't stand for it!") So crack open this CD and enter a mysterious world of pirates, outlaws, ghost ships, madmen, star-crossed lovers, strong drink, and long-lost friends. You'll never be the same again.
