Formerly one of the directors of Providence Tango and the founder of the Tango Jam, Ben Bogart is currently living in Buenos Aires where he studies Bandoneon under the renowned bandoneonist and orchestra leader Rodolfo Mederos. Through the provision of educational materials, instruction, as well as Tango music resources, Ben continues to be an important figure in the already growing revival of live tango music.

Tango that swings

author: Mark HammondThis is the kind of tango I like to dance to. It is the traditional tango of the 1940's. Nothing flashy, just the good traditional tango that I love to hear at milongas. I should note that there are only 6 selections on the disk, with the shortest being 1 minute 41 seconds, and the longest being 4 minutes. Three selections are of about 3-1/2 minutes. I am used to tango disks that have more songs. Please, sir, I want some more ! The quality of the music presented is "world class" -- and I would rank it amongst the best presentations I have ever heard. Sweet !

Outstanding Tango for dancing.
author: David McReeThe great lament among todays Argentine Tango dancers in many countries is that so much of the great old music is of such poor quality, while much of the newer music is just too far from the traditional tango we so love. The music on this CD is a dancer's dream. Powerfully rhythmic, clean, energetic and fresh-sounding, these arrangements by Ben Bogart keep enough of the original sound to maintain the interest of us who love that tradition, but give the music a breath of new life. In El Amanacer, DiSarli is there, In Corazon de Oro, Canaro lives, and in Derecho Viejo, one can sense D'Arienzo's presence. To me, the most compelling and inspiring arrangement is Shusheta. Wow! If you are a tango DJ this is a must-have. If you love traditional tango but are weary of the old crackly recordings, BUY THIS! Ditto if you just love a good tango. Price = low, quality = high.
