notes
bj blue and the Cadillac Cowboys are the latest CRAZE in Texas. Raised on George Jones and Elvis, Lefty Frizzell and Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty and Little Richard ... LOOK OUT! These guys are dangerous.
Collectively bj and the boys have written songs for the likes of John Michael Montgomery, Earl Thomas Conlee, Emmylou Harris, Buck Owens, Gene Watson, Don Gibson, Moe Bandy, Joe Stampley, Terri Clark and Alan Jackson among many many other huge country stars. Now they have collectively directed that talent toward the group and are cranking out the hits for bj blue and the Cadillac Cowboys.
The Country Songs are Country ala George Strait. The Rockers, Rock ala Brooks and Dunn and the Texas swingers swing ala Asleep At The Wheel. This album contains a modern mix of "all that's good" in ALL the music that has come before us.
Check out the originals from bj and the boys.
"Cowgirl Up" is definitely a statement for all you girls out there in skin tight jeans and a crop top that just oozes attitude. "Payback is hell" and "what works for the goose is double good for the gander" soooooooooo "slide on out on that dance floor and start struttin' like a movie queen". You know what I'm talkin' about!
"Legendary Lovers" is classic George Strait to the maxxx! Today's upbeat two step with a tale of two star-crossed lovers that were "meant to be". Fiddles and Steel makes this a Traditional country music treat ... Enjoy!
"Honeymoon Tonight" is an easy listening come-on in the tradition of a Randy Travis or Merle Haggard classic. This song swings but is moderate in tempo an unusual combination that bj and the boys know exactly how to "get down" on. Check out the fiddle and piano work on this one, not to mention some of the most spaced out lyrix on the planet "I'll paint the sky with big letters sayin' I Love You" ...
"Somethin' Easy Tonight" is pretty much your standard Brooks and Dunn, kick your ass, uptempo barroom brawl, lights-out shuffle. It must be about closin' time on this one and bj is puttin' some major moves on a cute little gal he's found. It's worked before, so why not try it again? ... "it's been a long hard day, and I need Somethin' Easy Tonight" (how 'boutchu baby?)
"Made In The Shade In Texas" tells it exactly like it is deep in the heart of the Lone Star State. bj's a Texas Boy and it shines thru on this song. Everything is covered from El Paso to Texarkana and from Muleshoe to Brownsville. Boots, hats, jeans, pearl snaps, saddles, tack, redneck honky tonk bars, pretty women, Willie, George and Waylon ... Bob Wills ... billy joe is "Texas Proud" and just wants to "sing my sonnets where those bluebonnets grow". This cut is TEXAS style Western Swing on steroids and the Cadillac Cowboys Smoooooooooooooooke on this one.
The title track "Hip Shakin' Man" is all about (you guessed it) THE KING of Rock'n'roll ... Elvis himselvis ... cause "We ain't never been rocked like we got rocked by that Hip Shakin' Man" ... the Jordanaires are right at home on this one (they did 99% of all of Elvis' backups) along with bj and the boys.
The cover tunes on this CD are true gems you know and love. The "Cowboy" Twist is a new twist on "The Twist" check it out ... suddenly it's brand new and yes, those are The World Famous Jordanaires doing the 50s backups. "A Mess of Blues" is an Elvis cover which also features the Jordanaires. "Slow Hand" is a Pointer Sisters, Conway Twitty sensual masterpiece with a Sultry Groove ... so get your groove on for this one and "Lookin' For Love" is yet another Urban Cowboy classic you've just gotta love. It sold millions originally and still has that potential today.
All-in-all this is a monster CD that will kick your speakers in so many ways you've got to like one of 'em. CRANK IT UP LOUD!!! AND ENJOY!!!! and CALL your favorite radio station and request bj blue and the Cadillac Cowboys!!!!!

I've Engineered For The Best And BJ is ONE OF THE BEST!!!
author: Greg kaneI consider myself blessed to have had the priviledge of recording some of the most influential artists of our time.( Waylon Jennings, George Jones, Keith Urban, Olivia Newton John, Hank Cochran, etc.) You need to check out BJ!!! Both his artistry, and his personal integrity merit your attention. True Grit!! Sincerely, Greg Kane (recording engineer)
A truly great mixture of some of the greatest classics and some soon-to-be ...
author: Twyla AndersenI particularly like great cover versions of great songs. Here we've got The Twist, A Mess of Blues, Slow Hand and Lookin' For Love back to back. What a treat. I like each as much as or better than the original and the originals themselves Cowgirl Up, Hip Shakin' Man and Made In The Shade In Texas ... could all be big records. This is a grrrreat CD
Could be a greatest hits CD one of these days ...
author: Red WhiteBest selection of tunes I've heard in a long long time. Great uptempo tunes with lots of sass and rip and some smooth 2 steps for you dancers and three or four classics that just can't be beat. This CD is a country music "must have" in my book ... go for it, you'll love it!
I'm Impressed!
author: Bonnie SheltonThis CD is going to be one of my favorites for years to come. It's got something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Literally it covers all the musical tastes I savor. From a good ole two step to some serious rockin' country this CD kicks butt! Great originals and wonderful classics combined. I'm in heaven!
Love this band and these songs!
author: Linda YoungPerfect timing here. Christmas time is upon us and I know several friends that are gonna get this CD for Christmas. These guys ring my chimes. Love that "Hip Shakin' song with the Jordanaires and I can certainly relate to "Cowgirl UP". I think that "Slow Hand" was done by Conway Twitty but boy do I love this version. All-in-all this CD just "does it" for me ... I wanna go dancin' to these guys and you will too!
Fresh New Country, new songs, great style!
author: Ben OshmanWell, bein' a Texan myself, I love "Made in the Shade in Texas" ... that aside ... this is a damn good CD. Good songs, good players, positive, uplifting, fun. Cover tunes are a great choice and the originals have radio potential written all over them. This is top shelf music in my book.
