notes
Virginia Beach pianist Bay McLaughlin began taking piano lessons and studying music theory at the age of four. He continued studying piano until sixteen when he decided to switch his focus from classical piano to punk and metal percussion. Bay’s earliest influences were Oldies music, with a particular focus on the Beach Boys and Elvis. Through middle school, high school, and most of college, Bay listened to punk and metal exclusively. His favorite bands included Pennywise, H2O, A.F.I., Millencolin, NoFX, Atreyu, Homegrown, No Use For A Name, and Yellowcard. During his college years, Bay formed a classical trio, Savant, who went on to release Anonymous and play shows for three years together.
During 2006, Bay decided to launch a solo career and began work on his debut album What Is and Will Be. Focused on illustrating his five years as a composer, WIAWB is a mixture of new and old songs, all centered on classical piano styling. Moving forward, Bay is excited about his foray into the independent music industry and is focused on redefining his compositional style and musical genre.

This album was definitely new and enriching.
author: Jeoffrey ArringtonBay, I listened to most of the tracks on your new album. Luckily, I caught it while I could listen to the whole tracks instead of just a short sample. I listen to any and everything from jazz to blue grass. I found your songs innovative and enriching. The tracks were passionate, yet still holind true to thier classical theme. Awesome work!
