Aside from popping up on many current DJ charts, the single just entered Billboa
author: djricomixshowIt's always refreshing when a track comes along that is driven by male vocals instead of the typical screaming diva or pop songtress, as in the case with Barton's "Tonight". Aside from popping up on many current DJ charts, the single just entered Billboard's Dance Club charts. Helping to propel the single further, is hot remix team L.E.X. a.k.a. Eddie X & Luigie Gonzalez- whom have been on a roll lately churning out fabulous mixes for the likes of Barry Manilow, Mis-Teeq etc.. This time around the talented remixers deliver a in your face aggressive tribal houser that features a great arrangement and wonderful synthwork. The mix begins with tribally charged intro and flanged vocal effects. As the cut continues to build, bolder synths and robust percussion are added that complement Barton's vocals with haunting precision. Remix team L.E.X. definitely pound it out properly with this deep tribal mix! Next up to bat is remixer Manny Ward with his moody infused afterhour mix (Manny's Porn Mix). It's certaintly been a while since Manny has graced us with a new commercial mix. Who could forget his many productions appearing on the classic labels Eightball and Empire State, with such productions such as Vanessa Evelyn's "Sister, Sister" and of course Johnny Hanson's "Mr. Fantasy" - a Junior Vasquez staple. Like "Mr. Fantasy", Manny decides to take Barton's "Tonight" into a very seductive atmospheric direction. The Porn Mix is stripped of all main vocals and concentrates solely on the passages: "alright tonight, feels so good-so tight"- which is constantly looped throughout the entire dubby mix. The production is very reminscent to a padapella as Barton's hypnotic vocals blend with the cascading beats and oscillating bassline. Peppered with cunning vocal manipulation, the mix breaks midway with an acapella interlude and gradually builds again with masculine bass chords, and dense percussion which swallow Barton's vocals into a dark abyss. The diversity of mixes for "Tonight" will suit the dancefloor and continually help drive the track up the charts. PAJ
