FAIRY TALES DO COME TRUE!
You don't believe me? Listen to our new CD. We picked our favorite Irish Pub songs and timeless fairy tale filk music and tenderly recorded them on a CD. We lovingly mixed and mastered this album with all the Brobdingnagian passion we could muster. Then Andrew and I added a sweet tear drop to each recording to add that extra bit of love.
Once the CD was mailed to the printers, we threw our hands in the air and danced around the room laughing and dancing a jig. Our kilts bounced up high as we shouted out, "It's done! It's done! It's done" in unison. Then we grinned. It was good.
*sigh* :-)
Now that our part is done, we are ready to share it with you. To steal a phrase--this is fun for the whole family. There are some fun, clean Irish pub songs (they do exist!). We picked, found, and wrote some classic folk songs and filk music ("filk" is Fantasy/Sci Fi-based folk music) and recorded those as well.
You will hear songs from Peter S. Beagle's amazing novel, The Last Unicorn. I wrote a song based on the children's book, The Paperbag Princess, and another inspired by The Princess Bride. Then there's a parody of a Schoolhouse Rock song, a song that inspired the title of my solo album "Soul of a Harper" by fantasy authoress, Rie Sheridan.
And I'd be a fool not to mention that "The Jedi Drinking Song" is finally available on an album!
IRISH SONGS TOO?
Yup! We play Irish music. So there are a few drinking songs like "Old Dun Cow" and the popular "Lily the Pink". Then we cross geographic boundaries to give you a romantic folk song in Italian!
You will hear a parody inspired by Buffy the Vampire Slayer called "Angel's Lament" (written before Angel got his own TV show). Oh! Let's not forget we have a couple of live tracks that will leave you roaring in disbelief. (Godzuki? Geriatric what?) And who can forget that monstrous classic "Monster Mash".
Yes. It's all there and then some. You asked for these songs for the past three years. Well, you don't need to ask again. The album is done!
So close your eyes a moment and just imagine.
Imagine your glow of satisfaction when our CD arrives in the mail. You rip open the box and tenderly place it in your CD player.
Now you can relax and slip into bardic bliss. All your favorite songs from the last two years are now recorded. Don't you feel happy. And you thought it wouldn't happen. See!
MUSIC FIT FOR A FAIRY TALE
So grab your bow and arrows. Strap on your lightsaber, and hear the musical story of how you too can live happily ever after!
Because fairy tales do indeed come true.

I love every song that these guys do. I have their CD's in the car, and just keep changing from one to the other.
Cheers you up
author: KeltickittenI love the CD. Frankly I just stumbled on their website a couple of months ago, looking for something new as a celtic music lover. Since then I guess I sort of collected all their CD's still available. And I admit: I am not dissapointed. I can advice them to everybody that loves traditional music, but is sort of tired of hearing it copied all the time in the same way. These guys give it a nice, unique twist of it's own.
I'll play it for my funeral. It's THAT GOOD!
author: Bob of the MidwestWhat can I say? Wild Mountain Thyme will be played at my funeral. Jedi drinking song will be at my wake. I've been sharing this CD with friends, family, and complete strangers since I received it in the mail. Marc Gunn was even nice enough to email me. This CD, I would mail to all heads of state around the world in hopes of promoting peace and celtic festivals.
Enjoyed enough to pay for it
author: KeithListening to their tunes for free for a few years now. Thought enough about it, and decided to finally buy it. This cd has some of the most humorous, original and highly enjoyable tunes on it.
Fun and Upbeat
author: Shannon FarrellThis CD quickly whisks me into a pub in a heartbeat, where I listen to Celtic shanties. The biggest twist are the themes of the songs, where the Bards take pop culture and twist it into their music. There's not a song on the album that I'll bypass when it comes up in my playlist.
High energy fun with a nice surprise to boot.
author: MacI expected this Cd would keep my toes tapping and my hips swaying and I wasn't disappointed. The live version of If I Had a Million Ducats is fantastic and an enjoyable window into the lively banter enjoyed between The Bards and their audience which we Down Under are yet to experience. The bonus for me was undoubtedly the first track, None But a Harper. The vocals and lyrics wrapped me up like a velvet cloak and held me entranced. It is simply lovely.
Got addicted very quickly
author: CarliMy fiance and I are doing a show at a medieval banquet at a local college. We wanted to find the words to "Old Dun Cow" and ordered this CD. We love the songs and are incorporating a few more in the show. Now my 11 year old daughter is addicted to listening to "Lily the Pink" and "Exclamations". Thanks for a fun CD!
These ARE the bards I'm looking for!
author: BrandonFantastic. My kids and I love it. Great car sing-a-longs. I'm even willing to overlook that my kids now sing about a Bourbon on the Rocks. These ARE the bards I'm looking for.
My son loves this CD
author: KellyMy 4 year old son loves this CD. Monster Mash and Lily the Pink are his favorites. I must admit that I'm a little partial to Old Dun Cow. I think I'll have to check out a few more of thier CDs. There truely aren't that many made that the whole family likes. Excellent job...
They've done it again!
author: DianneAnother fantastic CD from The Bards! Completely enjoyable in every way! Fun songs with beautifully performed music make this CD a must for everyone's collection. LOVE IT!
A winner
author: Fred L.Old favorites revisited and some wonderful spoofs, plus a great new version of "Monster Mash" and the poignent and potent "Soul of a Harper." This disk has become a favorite with our whole family (aged 7 to 50). Highly recommended!
Great CD!
author: Scott A.I was amazed when I got these cd's, there were some songs on the cd I didnt think I was going to like, but when I put the cd in and told myself I was going to listen to the entire cd, I fell in love with all of the songs, and I absolutely love the slower songs: None but a Harper, Buttercups Lament, Angels Lament, Soul of a Harper and Santa Lucia. Absolutely great CD, definitely the #1 in my cd collection!!
Good solid fun!
author: KendraI'd heard a few of these songs before, but they're some of my favorites: Angel's Lament, If I Had a Million Ducats, and Happily Ever After aren't getting old any time soon. :) I also fell instantly in love with Bog Down In the Valley, Exclamations, and Old Dun Cow, and Buttercup's Lament is absolutely beautiful. The crowning glory, though, was Frog Kissin'. I don't think I've laughed that hard in years; I was driving at the time, and I was laughing so hard I was crying and had to pull off the road (even my mom, who normally can't stand any music that's not Country, liked this one). As usual with my favorite Bard songs, it's all about the lyrics (although there's a lot to be said for the vocals and instrumentals, too, they're just not the best feature). :) I can just about guarantee there's something on here that will put a smile on anyone's face.
Woot!!! This was great
author: Cheryl from ConnecticutSomething for everyone - Star Wars fans, Buffy fans, Ren Faire fun songs...AND a LIVE version of DUCATS, which shows you a bit of the Bards improv fun that you're in for if you get to see them at a live performance!! I love this CD! Great quality CD, and I love the artwork.
Fabulous songs and collections.
author: TrishaI really do love the cd and the songs that were on it. Very nice compliation of songs and the time it was sent to me was timely. Thank you for the wonderful music.
Fairy tales do exist... for sure!
author: John CoyneThis is absolutely great stuff sure - the perfect soundtrack for a sing-along to remember for sure!
Could not have been better
author: RonThe perfect mix, celtic and humor.
Bards provide surprising olfactory refreshment...
author: Matt T....that's right, olfaction. While listening to this lively harp, recorder, and mandolin medley one cannot help but smile a bit more, stick out one's chest, and take a big whiff of the green joviality that is our world filled with the acoustics of the Bards. Somehow, when listening to lyrics about booze, medicinal compounds, and leprechauns the atmosphere smells a bit better. It is my belief that this cd will improve your aerobic capabilities... that or make you hyperventilate.
Bards are Bigger than ever!
author: ottercatI found myself singing songs from this CD for days and days after listening to it. Lily the Pink is particularly memorable. And the Jedi Drinking song simply speaks for itself. Many laughs, indeed! Although I was a bit dismayed that they discriminated against hedgehogs..... It's a wonderful CD and I greatly recommend it.
Snicker .. another rousing album from the Bards
author: Heather K.Oh my - I can't get Lily the Pink out of my head. I even find myself singing it in a mock operatic voice while in the car. Thankfully the effect is limited to the car and I haven't started singing out loud at work...yet. Anyhow - the question remains - why no hedgehogs?
CDBABY is fastest! Brobdingnagian Bards are Great!
author: Jim ConardBrobdingnagian Fairy Tales will keep you Laughing for nearly all the tracks! When you are not laughing you will be intently listening to the music! I bought 3 Fairy Tales CD's to give as gifts to friends and relatives! If you are a "sing along" type of person, you can get the words on their web site.. www.thebards.net. If you get a chance, see Andrew and Marc at a Rennaissance Festival, SCI-FI convention, or pub near you!
The best Bards cd yet!!
author: Guacamole OgBrobdingnagian Fairy Tales is a collection of what, in my opinion, are some of the Bards' best songs. From Jedi Drinking Song to Lily the Pink to Old Dun Cow, this cd will make you laugh and it will make you cry (but only because you're laughing really, really hard). So if you're a long-time Nagian, Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales is definitely worth adding to your collection. If you're new to the Bards, but you enjoy good music and hilarious lyrics, this cd (and this band) is right up your alley! And while you're at it, check out some of their other cds. They will not disappoint!

Rockin' Bards Fun!!!!!
author: The Lady of the Old WaysThis CD gives a small taste of what a Bards live show is apt to be. It was also very smart of then to include the live versions of Ducts and Bog in the Valley so that people who have not had the chance to see them perform live can have a small taste of improv skills.
This cd is the shiznit.
author: Michelle M.This CD is so fun and uplifting. It's the best of bard music - funny, sweet, romantic and all with a good helping of silly. The cd has a great selection of tunes that are sure to put a smile in your heart.
Absolutely terrible (in a good way)
author: KatlinI only joined the ranks of these fans a few months ago, and resolved to buy the next CD they released, then from there go and collect the others in their collection. I loved it! Every song had some silly twist that made it awesome! The jedi drinking song, I must say in the least was a song that left me gasping for breath. Every song made you laugh, but there was one that left me saying terrible... absolutly terrible (in the way you do after a funny joke). I can't remember which one it is.... so I'll have to listen again! I reccomend this to anyone, and everyone. It's only terrible!
What fun!
author: Answer Hymn LisaIf the gas prices have you stuck at home, break out this CD and the meade and invite your neighbors over! It's like the best of the Renaissance Faire on CD. The songs are fresh and there's something for everyone!
Love the Bards!
author: Voodoo ConstanceThis is a fun CD to listen to, I love the live version of "Million Ducats" Being a Buffy fan, I got a good laugh out of "Angel's Lament." My husband the Fop loves "Exclamations!" Sink Me!!!
About Time!!!
author: DawnMarieI am so glad to have been both at the Irish Dragoon to hear the Bards outside of faire, and to own this CD. Been a long time in the making boys, we look forward to seeing you again. No matter how good the recording, there is nothing like listening and seeing you guys live.
Gotta Love the Bards!!
author: J.D. BurkeI've been waiting for this CD for quite a while. I am so glad that Old Dunn Cow has been recorded. Now I don't have to wait for Faire. The CD is lots of fun I strongly recommend it to everyone. Make sure you buy more than one.
Awesome, unique sound. Versatile material. Superior group!
author: Cara ChapelThis CD immediately became the favorite one in my playlist. I go around humming "The Old Dun Cow" and it keeps me cheerful and energetic throughout the day. My friends love "Angel's Lament" and "Jedi Drinking Song." "Exclamations" made me laugh so hard I nearly choked; I hadn't heard some of those sci-fi-coined words in twenty years. And hilarious songs such as these mesh seamlessly with haunting, lovely tunes like "Soul of a Harper" and "Buttercup's Lament." I can't help but sing along. If you like dementia or modern Celtic with an indy sound, you need to give this group a listen. The Bards' unique vocal and instrumental style, and their mischievous but thoughtful sense of humor, will not disappoint.
Another Awesome Album
author: Rie SheridanOf course, I am a little prejudiced about "Soul of a Harper", but I think the whole album rocks. :) It finally provides fans with some of their favorites that have never before been available on CD. I'm buying copies for birthday presents! Keep up the good work, guys. I am proud to be a small part of it.
Wow! The Bards have done it again.
author: LisaWow! The Bards have done it again. Fairy tales in a Bard's world would OF COURSE include Jedi Drinking Song (one of my favorites). I've been playing this CD so much already, I can see that I'm going to have to get another copy.
Fractured!
author: uniladyReminds me of Fractured Fairy Tales from the old Rocky and Bullwinkle show, except this is Fractured gone Ren!! I laughed my bottom off, which just goes to show, don't listen to this CD at work unless you want people to give you really funny looks ;-)
Already one of my favorites
author: Bob Brickman, Modern BardA new release from the Brobdingnagian Bards and already one of my favorites. This album is a brilliant combination of original songs, parodies and traditional favorites. This is an album that works on several levels, but truly this rings as a kind nod to fandom. I can't think of anyone my age who doesn't have fond memories of "Schoolhouse Rock." The song "Exclamations" takes the old tune "Interjections" and puts a wonderful twist to them. I am certain that this is a convention favorite (with nods to Conan, Battlestar Galactica, and more). Another bold move is the covering of the classic "Monster Mash" by Bobby Pickett. The Bards manage to keep the original feel to the song, while giving it a wholly new sound. If this track doesn't end up on Dr. Demento's Halloween show I'll be more than a little amazed. Along the lines of more traditional tunes there is a fun rendition of "Rattlin' Bog" titled "Bog Down in the Valley". I've always been a fan of speed singing (Barley Mo' is another favorite of mine) and it is rare to hear a rendition that gets this fast while maintaining musical accompanyment. The next tune on the CD is "Medeluvium Madness", which is one of the better instrumental songs I've heard in a while. Hard to accurately describe, the song is both airy and cheerful, flowing and well structured. If that makes much sense to you, you've most likely heard the tune. Especially worth mentioning is the first track on the CD, "None But A Harper". Anyone who has read Peter S. Beagle's novel "The Last Unicorn" should be familiar with the lyrics. This is of several songs that have been inspired by various branches of fandom (including the "Princess Bride", the "Paperbag Princess" and even "Angel") and each one of them is an absolute treat. A sentiment that I can safely say carries through this entire album
More Great Bards music!
author: HaroldI just got this CD yesterday and I need to add it to my regular travelling music CD. I have most of the bards CDs (including a few out of print ones). Great mix of some songs that they have done live at conventions I have seen and a few covers that I have not seen them do before. I became a fan years ago when they played Jedi Drinking song (cover from Dust Rhinos) at a convention. I have been waiting for years for them to put it onto CD. The version on here is great and they threw in a line or two that is NOT in the live versions I had the chance to hear them perform. The Live Million Ducats is fun and that is definately in the style of what they do at a live concert. (Please, request something other than animals. Make it challenging for them.) If you ever get the chance to see them in person, go for it! They do a great concert.
Fun for the whole Clan!!!
author: TimothyWow! The album is excellent. One of the best ones compiled by Andrew and Marc. This one captures the fun of seeing the lads live in concert!!! There is something for everyone on this CD!
Loads of Celtic Fun
author: JanThis cd is a rousing collection of tunes, some new, some old and some very old, but all of them will leave you shaking your head thinking "Where have these guys been all my life?" I really enjoyed their redition of Lily the Pink, it was a song I didn't remember that I had heard before so it was a pleasant surprise. I saw Monster Mash on the song listing and thought that it couldn't possibly be my favorite Dracula song from the 60's could it? But it was!! And Jedi Drinking Songs? Well, I was just blown away! The live songs were also very entertaining, leaving me wishing they were coming to a Renaissance Festival near me...so go out and BUY THIS CD!!
happy go lucky
author: AmandaThis C.D. really is a great combination of all the funny, touching, feel-good songs that we have come to know and love. Soul Of a Harper and Santa Lucia are personal favorites and sound simply amazing. Great Work!!!!
Full Kilted Fun
author: KristenIf you've ever heard the Bards then you know what they're capable of. If you haven't ... well you don't know what you're missing; ... but! that's where this CD comes in handy. I love this CD because it really encompasses the range of variance these guys have achieved. Some of our favourite convention tunes, like "If I had a Million Ducats" and "Lily the Pink" are on here, as well as some awesome ballads and pub songs. My all-time favourite Bards' song was "Wild Mountain Thyme" until I heard Marc singing his heart out on "Soul of a Harper". I very highly recomend this CD to old Bards' fans, and those who have yet to be introduced to the fun.
