DO YOU LOVE IRISH FOLK MUSIC?
Following in the great tradition of The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, Irish Rovers, and The Wolfe Tones. Nineteen famous Celtic ballads and drinking songs of Ireland. The perfect blend of St. Patrick's Day music!
Ireland is rich in a musical history that goes back hundreds of years. Before even many of the great Irish fiddle tunes gained their popularity, the Irish were singing songs themselves.
Songs of of Ireland is a new exploration of the Irish songs by the Brobdingnagian Bards. On this packed, 19 song CD, you will hear the joy and sorrow of the Irish and Irish Americans in an hour of great music that is perfect for St. Patricks' Day and quickly come to understand why The Bards are considered "masters of the traditional folk".
ABOUT THE BROBDINGNAGIAN BARDS
The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brAHb'ding-näg-EE-en) are The Original Celtic Renaissance music group from Austin, Texas offering free Celtic mp3 downloads. They perform a unique style of music combining Scottish and Irish folk songs with music inspired by the Lord of the Rings, performed on non-traditional instruments--autoharp, recorder, and mandolin.
In just five years, they've completed six studio albums and performed coast-to-coast. Ask their fans, and they'll tell you The Bards are just plain "fun!" Which makes sense since, after all, they just love the music.

For a friend...
author: Woodrow J Wingo IIIMy best friend was bred and born on "the olde soil" as she puts it, and always laments the loss of the music she grew up with. Well, for her birthday, I got her this, cause I know that it has some of the songs that she loves so very much!! Heck, she's got me singing The Unicorn Song now!!
we listen to the CD almost every day
author: charles and jillian foleyMy husband heard the song on a radio station up here in CT during St. Patty's day weekend. Since our son was due on March 28 and his name is Noah Chad had to find the CD and buy it! We dance around our kitchen at least every other night to the Noah's Arch Unicorn song inorder to make our baby laugh. My husband loved the CD so much we know own 2 incase one should get lost.
Great old songs for modern days
author: KeltickittenI love the CD. Frankly I just stumbled on their website a couple of months ago, looking for something new as a celtic music lover. Since then I guess I sort of collected all their CD's still available. And I admit: I am not dissapointed. I can advice them to everybody that loves traditional music, but is sort of tired of hearing it copied all the time in the same way. These guys give it a nice, unique twist of it's own.
Great versions of great songs

author: Lindsay DierolfSongs of Ireland is great! I bought it for the Unicorn song and The Bog in the Valley. These are two of my grandchildren's favorites. They are great songs and all the others are great too! I'm really happy with my purchase.
Try an Instrumental CD
author: CateIt sounds like they are having a good time and I really enjoy the instrumentals. They should focus on their strong points though and not have vocals be the focus of their songs.
Loved It!!!!!!!!!
author: Rob BursonI love the bards music all round! I love alot of the songs on here, because i've heard them from other artists and these guys do them 2times as good. This is an awsome cd!
Good folk music and a sense of humor, too!

Great rendition of classic songs of Ireland
author: Richard DawidCDBaby is a great place to buy hard to find music... Great experience with them because of the ease of dealing, great concern & feedback about the shipping & satisfaction with the CD I purchased. The Bards do best version of Danny Boy I have ever heard & that includes the Dennis Day version. After previewing & downloading a few of the other songs on this CD and the screen saver for Danny Boy, but especially after seeing the soothing effect of Bard's version of Danny Boy on my grandson, I decided I needed to buy the CD. I babysit with my grandson Danny and to get him to nap, I play Danny Boy. He seems to connect with Bards' version, listening intently. He does not do that with the Dennis Day version. Equally great renditions of other traditional Irish songs I have heard in my younger days(the 1960s) are: The Gypsy Rover, The Unicorn Song and The Patriot Game. The other songs on the CD I have never heard before this time but no matter what they sing, one has to have the feeling of being in an Irish pub listening to these guys.
Loved both CDs. Looking for more!!
author: AmandaI loved both CDs I purchased and CD Baby made the experience great. Looking forward to purchasing next CDs. Great music.

Brilliant
author: Mia FirestoneI loved this album. It is a perfect mix of Irish folk and modern day music. Finnigan's Wake is one of my favorite songs, and the Bards performed it beautifully. I will definitely buy their next album.
A great St. Patrick's Day CD!
author: Michelle OsborneI found this album through Marc Gunn's website. After an introduction to his music through his solo album, I turned to his duo, the Brobdingnagian Bards, to see what they had to offer. Once again, I was not disappointed. The Bards (who are Marc Gunn, on vocals and autoharp, and Andrew McKee on vocals, mandolin, and recorder) have a unique sound that's very enjoyable to listen to. They simply don't sound like anyone else out there which, in this day of duplicate ensembles and conformity, is a very good thing. Songs of Ireland came out in 2002 and contains a full hour of some of the greatest traditional songs of Ireland. One of the highlights of this album for me was "An Irish Lullaby." Sung by Marc in a soft, lilting voice, it perfectly suits this nostalgic song about hearing a mother singing a lullaby as she rocks you to sleep. If you're anything like me, you'll find yourself going back to this track over and over again, shutting your eyes, and losing yourself in the music. Another great song on this album is "The Unicorn Song." This particular song is sung by Andrew, who has a lighter voice than Marc, and tells the story of why we don't see unicorns anymore. Perhaps the funniest moment in this song comes toward the end when Andrew sums up his explanation for the disappearance. Marc's theatrics at this moment cannot possibly do anything but bring a smile to your face. And a note to those who have heard this song before: there's a new verse on the end to give the song a more optimistic spin. Other highlights include "Lish Young Buy-A-Broom," a song about a man who meets a broom seller and spends the day in love with her before departing overseas and "Patriot Game," which tells the story of Fergal O'Hanlon (who tried to abolish the border between the Republic and the six counties) and was heard recently on NPR's Marketplace during a show on the IRA. If you're looking for the perfect St. Patrick's Day album or even just an album with some great songs and singing, I highly recommend this one.
Excellent CD !
author: Peter AhernAn excellent selection of songs played wonderfully ! A great addition to any collection with St. Patrick's Day upon us.
Oh my!
author: TabithaSome songs from my childhood and some that my children will hear...this is the best set of CDs I've bought in a long time! Fab-u-lous!
Fun album.
author: BeneditionThese guys seem to have a great time! The only way to really listen to this album and thoroughly enjoy it is to have a bit of a green beer buzz on. In Eire they would be great pub entertainers. The emotional rendition of the Patriot Game is the best I've heard! The album is uneven, but then so are pub singers, and that's where the buzz comes in. They do a great job with An Irish Lullaby, but should have left the Unicorn Song off the album. In case you don't know, these guys are better musicians (check out "Songs of the Muse") than vocalists, but great entertainers no matter what!
Gotta love the Patriot Game
author: Jason SandsGod Save Ireland...Their verson of the "Patriot Game" is one of the best I have ever heard.
The Brobdingnagian Bards hit this one out of the park!
author: C.D. CampbellNot long into my first listening of "Songs of Ireland," I realized that these guys really enjoy making music. Their enthusiasm will leap out of your speakers and before you know it, your foot will be tapping and you will be singing out loud to faithful and entertaining versions of classics and super Brobdingnagian originals (like the future classic "Satisfied"). This CD is a 5-star must-have!
Great Irish CD
author: audreyI just found my Irish family history through my G-grandfather. This is a CD for my Irish collection. It makes me feel at home in Ireland.
I always wanted a Bog Down In The Valley CD...great recording
author: Iain ThurstonFantastic CD in the tradition of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem
A perfect 10!
author: EmileeThis CD is full of fun, light hearted Irish tunes. I particularly like "Patriot Game", "Lish Young Buy-a-Broom", and "Big Strong Man". Marc's sweet Irish brogue coupled with the instrumental magic, he and Andrew posses create the illusion that every day is St. Patrick's Day! I love it!
