"A tasteful blend of soulful jazz and playful blues, infused with a rhythmic intensity."
Madison Area Music Award Winner 2007 - Best Instrumentalist of the Year! Barb also won for Blues Song of the Year and Jazz Song of the Year!
With her combination of technical skills and soulful phrasing, Barb Cheron has been entertaining audiences for many years. Equally comfortable playing jazz, blues, classical or pop she has emerged as a prolific and talented songwriter.
Her eclectic style has led to her playing in the all female jazz ensemble, MZ Communication, her successful duo with singer/songwriter Marianne Flemming and a jazz/blues duo with John Jacobs (self-released CD, Bistro, 2006). In addition, she is an accomplished band leader.
Trained at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music, Barb also studied with renowned jazz guitarists Roger Brotherhood, Cliff Frederiksen and Don Linke. In addition, she studied classical guitar with Professor Javier Calderon from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“Cheron’s musical reach keeps growing…a truly interesting improviser. She moves easily from jazz to blues to ballads.” As a soloist, she’s well worth listening to. As an ensemble player…she’s gifted at interpreting and supporting the music, without overwhelming the singer. Go hear her if you can!” - Tara Ayres (vocalist), Her Infinite Variety, WORT 89.9 FM, Madison , WI
“Barb Cheron is a dedicated guitarist and musician with a sensitive and fluid command of both classical and jazz guitar music.” - Marianne Fleming (singer/songwriter), Recording Artist, Mermaid Records
"...the tunes swing and you have a great Joe Pass-bluesy feel to your chording and playing." -Tung Le, Guitarist, featured artist on Guitar9 Records
"Nice tone and harmonic concepts." -Dave Illig, Jazz Guitarist, Jet Productions
"A great CD for that Sunday drive with head-bobbin' tunes that recall the groove of '60s George Benson." - Michael Kwas, Madison Magazine

Incredible new artist!
author: MollyThis CD is amazing! Barb Cheron is not only an incredibly talented guitarist; she writes first class music, too. This is the kind of CD everyone will love no matter what their musical tastes. No wonder she's Instrumentalist of the Year!
