Bakotopia.com, Bakersfield’s popular social networking and entertainment website, has just released their first all-local music compilation CD, Bakotopia Music Compilation Vol. 1.
The eclectic 16 track CD, features unsigned bands from today's Bakersfield, California music scene. Musical genres represented include a cross-section of the current local scene: rock, reggae, latin, ska, screamo, acoustic, roc en español, alternative, grunge, rockabilly, and hip-hop / rap, whatever you call it, it's all here!
Bakersfield has a rich history of of music making, not just from the likes of local sons Buck Owens and KORN, but also the hardworking, songwriting, flier posting, e-mail spamming, home CD burning, demo hustling independent bands practicing and gigging in garages, house parties, and dive bars all over the city.
Bands included on the collection, include a gathering of some of Bakersfield’s brightest new and veteran talent: The Filthies, Joel Jacob, From Ritual To Romance, Seed, Another Year, Mento Buru, Hayes Field, Safe Sounds, Tripline, Three Chord Whore, Vanity Avenue, Dirty Spanglish, Krotch, Fatt Katt & The Von Zippers, Likhy2, and The Silence Club.
