This band from Canada, Back Porch Swing is a 4 piece acoustic band that blends a nice mix of western Swing, Jazz, folk and Bluegrass to bring you their very own "Cowjazz".
Their funny lyrics, hot picking, Sweet harmonies and versatility make you want to take a ride on their back porch.
String band music in all its forms inspires this band of talented musicians. They have been playing together since 2003, showcasing their songwriting amid a collection of vintage tunes. Their second CD, "Riding" was released in 2005 and has been well received at clubs and festivals. Performing as a band or a duo has taken Back Porch Swing west to Victoria, B.C., east to Sherbrooke, Quebec, north to Dawson Creek, B.C., and south to Burningman at Black Rock City, NV.

What a wonderful surprise!
author: Elizabeth CannonMy daughter gave me this cd for my birthday, and I have to say it is fantastic! This is the kind of music I really enjoy with the wonderful guitar and mandolin picking, the sweet fiddle, smooth vocals and harmonies, and clever lyrics. The Spiderman Theme makes me laugh everytime. Warning: since it's the last song on the cd it will get stuck in your head! Ridin' Down the Fraser Canyon brings a smile, being an old find. That Ain't the way Bill Played It, My Notso Fred Astaire, Francis the Pig, and Holding Up the Sky are other instant favorites. So are all the other tunes on this cd but it seems silly to list them all. If you enjoy bluegrass, folk, or old-time swing, you'll very likely want this cd to add to your collection.
