notes
Ernie is a space jock. He pilots one of those old slow intergalactic freighters. A very efficient life suspension chamber called the Hibernator keeps his body from ageing during the long hauls. Upon arriving in port and off loading cargo, Ernie invariably heads for the nearest bar to indulge in the 3 B's; booze, broads and brawling as he has done for eons. Ernie remembers earth from before the ice age and the great flood. It was so green and beautiful. At that time earth was an R & R planet for the Galactic Federation Space Corps. Ernie enlisted in the Space Corps as a youth, but deserted after striking an officer. He yearns to return to earth, but fears a long prison sentence if he does so.
Denise is into health food, ecology and meditation. She lives in a small California town and supports herself as a cocktail waitress. She bikes to work and has a particularly bad evening, with a drunken salesman hitting on her. On returning home, she goes into a deep meditation. Denise envisions a planet with 7 moons where all is peace, tranquility and love. She feels that this is her true home and longs to return there.
As Denise drifts into space, Ernie (in hibernation) yearns for earth. In a dreamlike astral state they meet.
From Denise, Ernie finds out that the Galactic Federation no longer has a base on earth, in fact no one even remembers the Federation. Ernie knows the planet of the seven moons. It was the only place in the galaxy where he couldn't get a beer. They make plans. Ernie lands the big freighter in the Mojave desert, scaring a prospector and a couple of campers out of their wits. (the Air Force said it was a weather ballon). Together, they take off for the Seven Moons.
They make a few stops along the way to unload cargo and have some adventures, including a brush with the space pirate. In port, Ernie gets drunk and beaten up while Denise watches birds. Although totally opposite, a mutual fondness develops. Ernie drops Denise on the planet of the seven moons. It is indeed the "Home" of her dreams. He arranges to retire on earth. They agree to keep in touch.
Denise soon discovers that the planet of the seven moons while serene and orderly is devoid of adventure and new experience and quite dull. Ernie finds earth overpopulated, over regulated, overtaxed and polluted. Again Ernie and Denise make plans.
With the help of Ernie's Space Teamster buddies, they rendezvous and take off for a pioneer planet on the rim of the galaxy, where there are fish in the rivers, game in the forests and the natives are semi-friendly. Denise grows organic carrots and zucchini and Ernie grows barley and hops and makes the best home brew in the galaxy. If you ever get out that way, stop by. They're always at home.

A real joy to listen to, you'll laugh and cry.
author: Seymour NurseI have become a great fan of Baaska and Scavelli. It is so great to hear this side of their music too. There's a fantastic version of Floating. Take a look at where you are, shows Valli in her element, what a VOICE. Space Pirate is an absolute joy that shows the humourous side of Don and Valli, play it to your kids, they'll love it. This is an album for us Space Travellers, Star Gazers, and romantics. A truly philosophical, fun and enjoyable CD.
