Album Notes

AUTOHARP LEGACY is a 3-CD set documenting the diversity of styles currently being performed on the autoharp, a multi-stringed acoustic instrument of American origin. 55 of the best-known performers of the autoharp from around the world gathered in Nashville, Tennessee to record an outstanding musical anthology that features this unique and versatile instrument. Autoharp virtuosos Ron Wall of Springfield, Tennessee, and Bryan Bowers of Sedro-Woolley, Washington, collaborated on this project with Mark Howard, a well-respected producer and studio engineer in Nashville. AUTOHARP LEGACY demonstrates a multitude of musical tastes by the performers, ranging anywhere from folk songs, old-time country ballads, bluegrass fiddle tunes, Irish jigs, and Swedish dance tunes, to jazz standards, gospel, blues, or Latin-flavored favorites. Some of Nashville's best session musicians participated on this recording, including Dennis Crouch on stand-up acoustic bass, Sam Bush on mandolin, Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Richard Bailey on banjo, and producer Mark Howard on guitar and mandolin. Like some of the other reviewers, I am a beginning Autoharpist, and wanted to hear the different types of music played on this instrument. I was pleasantly surprised! What a diversity! I am excited to get past the beginning strumming and learn to play melody!
