notes
Audrey was born to by Jamaican parents, a christian believing mother and unbelieving father.
She remembers her father vaguely who had passed away while she was at a very young age. Her mother single handely raised her along with two brothers and an adopted sister.
In High School, Audrey was always to be found at break times singing and making melodies with her friends.
After leaving High School, Audrey said that there were many opportunities that came her way to get her into the music industry, which she had let slipped away.
Now she regrets that, but still has hope for the future.
Audrey did not have plans for God then, but knew that she did not want to go to hell. Little did she know that God had already called her from her mothers's womb to be a servant to HIm.
Today Audrey is happy to be serving the Lord and says it is the best thing she has ever done and the best life she has ever lived.
"If you walk along a buffet line and look at the food, you will never know how good it is until you have actually tasted it for yourself"
"Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man/woman who fears the Lord"
Audrey has worked on five cd projects and one dvd to date. This includes a live recording and DVD to be released late 2006 to early 2007. Mi Assignment is Audrey's latest work.
It is my hope and prayer that even one of the songs from all of my cds will reach you for eternal change.
"I have no doubt that I will be taking the gospel to the four corners of the earth, so look for me soon in your area. "IT IS TIME"...title of my next album"

A solid release from Audrey Gordon
author: Mike Roots, WAPJ 89.9 & 105.1 Torrington, CTHave you ever listened to an album (in the background)through one time from start to finish and find yourself somewhat disappointed only to find when you REALLY listened you actually LIKE what you heard? This was a recent experience for me with Audrey Gordon's sophomore release "Mi Assignment". Honestly there are a couple of shortcomings here, but the rest of the material is so strong it makes it worth getting a copy of this recording. The first two tracks ("Mi Assignment" and "Born Again Girl") are voiced on a classic riddim created by reknowned producer and musician Grub Cooper. I was slightly put off my Audrey's "mi-mi-mi-mi-mi..." in the title track but it's a decent tune. Even better is "Born Again Girl" where Audrey displays her talent for smoothly transitioning from chanting to singing to great effect as she proudly proclaims her position in life as a child of the Most High God. "None Like You" features a tender, intimate vocal where Audrey sincerely praises the Lord, speaking directly to Him. This tune is beautiful to listen to with headphones where you can appreciate the vocal nuances and Jah Servant's appropriately mellow roots production. "He's Born" is another highlight where Audrey states she doesn't know what month Jesus was born to a virgin, but what she does know is HE WAS BORN. The lyrics here are thoughtfully written and sung over a rather edgy roots riddim (Jah Servant again)- not your average Christmas song but one you'll enjoy just the same. "You're Good, Yes" is another very nice tune among the collection. "Your Grace And Mercy" is not reggae but heartfelt traditional gospel complete with choir backing- and it's done well. The project ends up coming a little short as we get a nice dub of "None Like You", "I Am Free" (recycled from Audrey's debut "Still Waiting") a forced medley ("Welcome Medley") and an unnecessary megamix to try and stretch things to full album length. However, as I mentioned earlier, the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses here. Overall, "Mi Assignment" reveals creative songwriting and expression from Audrey Gordon, along with a willingness to try some new things. It is exciting to here some fresh new material from one of the more impressive female talents in reggae music today. Recommended.

Avec ‘Mi Assignment’, l’aritste aux accents gospel nous livre un nouveau chapitre plus proche encore du message biblique. Le début du sermon est donné sur un beat dancehall (Mi Assignment) pour chauffer l’assistance. Ensuite commence la transe (Oh Zion, He’s Born, Your Grace And Mercy). Pour finir dans l’allégresse (Welcome Medley, Megamix). Amen ! Contact : www.audreygordon.com
