notes
A Tuba Antiatomica do Planalto got together by the first time in 1993, as a theater group, the Nu Tragico. During five years of work, our cominication got to become primarily musical, taking us to the definitive formation of the band in 1998. The fusion of many styles, the critical and questioning lyrics, the irreverent aesthetic proposal and a remarkable stage presence make the A Tuba Antiatomica do Planalto shows a Polissacarideo-scenic-musical-spectacle.
The Nu Tragico was a group with 22 people, which were in great part college students without greater previous theater experience. In our first play the crew had the opportunity of developing our own scenic artifacts, costumes, lights, make up, press and audience contacting, press material production, besides composing and arranging an original soundtrack. Our first play was Missa Cega, based on Orestia of the greek writer Esquilo). We got six weeks of sold out plays with extra sessions at two different theatres.
In 1998 A Tuba Antiatomica started to exist, with the intention of keeping working with the critical and original characteristics which were remarkably present at Nu Tragico. Our main goal was to construct a scenic and musical language that could explore the individual experiences acquired up to then, and develop the creativity of each one.
This means that we mixed up various art forms in our music. Our sound is made of brazilian rythms with the funk and jazz that influenced us all. Beside this, at the scene, we have musicians that are also clowns and actors. The theater, the music and the clown languages come together at our concerts.
