A brilliant follow-up to the highly successful "Quest Eternal". Symphonic Power Metal, the way it should be - classical tenor, power metal arrangement and symphonic orchestrations.

notes

"...one of the finest Metal discs of 2006 and a worthy addition to your Metal collection."
WEST SIDE DAVE, USA.

"...the best Melodic Metal album in the last years"
METAL COVEN, Germany (www.metalcoven.de).

"The Age Of Reckoning" is a wonderful piece of US Metal, including so much musical varieties, it really kicked me in the head. Don't wait to order please, otherwise you're not worth to wear the name US Metal maniac".
METAL TO INFINITY, Belgium

“The Age Of Reckoning” is the second release by New York’s leading Symphonic Power Metal band ASPIRE and it is a brilliant follow up to the highly successful debut “Quest Eternal”.

It's faster, more aggressive and much more Symphonic too. The arrangements and orchestrations sound more mature than before. The production is also more consistent. The lyrics are deeper and more serious, although the band was never careless about what they are writing.

There are ten new tracks there – nine originals and the cover version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s and Tim Rice’s “Heaven On Their Minds”.

Welcome to the world of ASPIRE, the band that gained worldwide attention with “Quest Eternal” and now presents you with “The Age Of Reckoning”.

  • I LOVE IT!

Totally great thing. Better than most melodic metal albums I heard this year and I've heard a lot. I can probably agree with the first reviewer, the production could be a bit "brighter", but, all in all, I am completely happy with this album. I loved "Burn The Witch", "Repentance", "Center And Part Of The Whole". All tracks are very cool. There are no ballads, and I think Ryan Metzger is excellent at those. Guys, record a ballad for the next album :) Oh, and JCS cover is superb, no questions!

  • Brilliant Work

Aspire has a new fan now. "Quest Eternal" was an excellent work, but this album could be the best event of the year. In the overcrowded field of power and progressive metal, Aspire have easily found their own, absolutely unique sound. These days you can easily confuse the bands and the albums, but "The Age Of Reckoning" is so original and so good, that you will never forget the sound of the band. Brilliant composition and unpredictable arrangements add to the picture. And the cover of my favorite piece from "Jesus Christ Superstar" was the most pleasant surprise. Way to go, Aspire!

  • Great, but not perfect.
    author: Paul

I've been a fan of ASPIRE since I downloaded a couple of songs from their website. Their first album was strong and unique. THE AGE OF RECKONING continues that tradition. Two points of concern: first, maybe I'm old-fashioned but I'd love to hear this stuff with a live drummer. Don't get me wrong, the drumming is spot on but I wonder how it would sound with the sonic boom of a real set of drums. Second, Ryan is a great singer, it's the recording of his voice I'm concerned about. It almost sounds as if the voice isn't a part of the recording but was added on top. It seems disembodied, floating above the music instead of being a part of it. I don't know the technical jargon but I'm sure it could be improved. But, hey, it's just my opinion. I could be way off base compared to other listeners. Overall, I like the sweeping symphonic sound that seems to fill a room. It's thick and lush. It's a great album, however, for me, to be perfect it would need those two issues addressed. I look forward to their next piece of metal mayhem!!!
