Apocalyptic, psychedelic, ethereal, guitar- based soundscapes with an emphasis on melody.

notes

"You can think of Asbestoscape as a quasi quadruple hybrid who combine the brooding heaviness of Isis, the dark industrial feel of Nine Inch Nails, the crazy breakbeats of Amon Tobin, and the droning ambience of Nadja and bind them together by their common thread of darkness." - Decoy Music

Semi-droning soundscapes that are actually musical and not self-indulgent time fillers, Asbestoscape mix enough musical elements that the substance of the music carries the listener from minute to minute, song to song without ever becoming stale.

i got the cd in perfect playing quality, even though the art on the CD itself was chipped. my boyfriend and i both ordered it and apparently i got the last copy at the time as his was backordered. i've been listening to it over and over and even though my lead singer says she would like it better with vocals, i think it's perfect as is. it's the best back ground music for driving, writing, a photoshoot, or even a night in the bedroom. it's moody, it's dark, but has elements of hope contained in it. i can't wait to hear what asbestoscape does next.

The gents of Ascape have come up with a great album... It's all instrumental with some interesting pieces... Very mood evoking. I can only hope that the band continues to evolve and add more diversity to their music. If you like instrumental music, I highly recommend getting this CD.

  • So Good

I really really love this CD. It has taken me to other places. It's so memorable and so atmospheric, it's impossible not to love, and it's such a great detachment from reality. Can't wait for the next one.

  • Really good music

There some band which make you dream whithout any effort. There is some band which make you fly, far from the tension of your life. Asbestoscape is this kind of band. When you want to flee the real life, play this cd on your machine, and just go away... There is just not enough time to forget our sad reality. It's the only things "negative" about this release. Hope it won't be a unique release...

The best CD i've never listened to of the year 2007. Buy the closed eyes.

  • Excellent CD

The CD is short in number of songs, containing only seven, but makes up for it in quality. The songs all have a very nice beat, and can easily get one into a "groove". Well worth the money. It makes me, personally, very happy to own this CD in my collection.

Asbestoscape takes us on a journey with this CD. The instrumental voyage begins with the uphill intro to Arctic, slow and steady, moving along and enjoying the scenery on a mellow joy ride. . .until you finally reach the top of a hill and begin your descent with arms in the air, not afraid but completely exhilarated for a moment before the song fades with ease in a comforting plateau. Heart slowly returning to normal beat. Next, Return takes hold of you with a funky grinding beat. There's a sunrise as the intro begins, illuminating the scene. Brilliantly dark and methodical layering of sound. I see a man in the desert, deliberate and determined, as he practices his march with conflicting thoughts of war and peace. Dust swirling throughout the land in perfect cyclones created by sound. Mono stops you in your tracks with a brightness before you notice the hum of something larger than life in the distance. . .a helicopter approaching, perhaps. Come to claim our soldier and take him, reluctantly, on a mission. As he flies, nostalgia fills his mind with memories, not so long past, that may never be revisited in person again. The beautifully irregular beat, getting more and more prevailent, suggesting our proximity to the dangers and conflicts of a world at war. Then, suddenly, peace. Melancholy and slow, the propeller winds in a slow motion descent from the sky and a safe landing on firm ground. And So the Story Goes. . . .in another land now. Uncertain and not at home. Something in the sluggish pace of this song provides a scene in which something has gone wrong. Disoriented by the sound of horns passing, approaching and then getting farther away. There is a wonderfully sad tone to this musical piece. . .perhaps, our hero is wounded and lost, pushing forward by will alone, despite pain and confusion. Like Shit Attracting Flies, is the wonderous release when collapsing to the ground, exhausted. Bright and crashing melody hinting that the world is spinning on a dizzying merry-go-round, with you in the center watching the sky from every angle, simulteneously, until finally closing your eyes. . .only to see it all still, brilliantly emblazened on the underside of your eyelids. Ashen, is a surreality. Perhaps the war goes on all around and in close proximity to our hero, who lies safe somewhere on the ground in semi-concious dream. Only a montage created by the sound of shots fired and bombs bursting in rhythmic splendor. Thursday (my personal favorite) I see as the arrival back home. Unsure, at first, if everything will be just as it was before this adventure, there is an element of suspense. But relief finds our hero in the soft comfort of the violin-like melody and beautifully dramatic beat. With a tear in his eye, a smile forms on his lips for the first time in far too long. Perhaps an embrace with someone left behind. It's over now, that magical journey. . .home at last.
