Soprano Asako Tamura has appeared with opera companies all over the world. After she won the competition “X Concorso Internazionale Giuseppe di Stefano” she has performed the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Hungarian State Opera, Budapest, the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese, Sicily, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Serdegna and Opera Constanza Romania; Amalia in I masnadieri with Sarasota Opera; Violetta in La Traviata with El Paso Opera; Female leads in L'Oracolo by F. Leoni and L'Incantesimo by I. Montemezzi at Avery Fisher Hall with Teatro Grattacielo and L'Ottavia at the Scarlatti Festival in Tokyo and Alfred, Alfred by F Donatoni at the Contemporanea Arena di Verona; Gilda in Rigoletto with Hungarian State Opera; Musetta in La Boheme with Tokyo Art Sphere; Micaela in Carmen with Tokyo City Opera; Juliette in Romeo et Juliette with Hungarian State Opera ;Licenza in Il sogno di Scipione with Gotham Chamber Opera, New York. On the concert stage, Ms. Tamura has performed as the female soloist with The Three Tenors (Domingo, Pavarotti, Carreras) in Yokohama, Japan, as well as with Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York, Opera Ai Fori Gala orchestra in Roma amongst others.

author: Gail RunnelsI don't know where she's been hiding (I'm surprised to have never heard her before!), but she's on a par with Renée Fleming, Sumi Jo, and Anna Netrebko, to name a few of my other favorites. I hope there is more coming from this beautiful and gifted young singer.
