THE BIO

BEN ARNOLD is a very prolific and original song crafter in the old school style with a now sense of wit and warmth. His stories are told through honest world-worn lyrics and time tested weariness and emotion any one of us could easily relate to. Ben possesses an undeniable charm and natural folksy energy, a singular style that succeeds at combining soulful singer-song-writer folk-rock mixed with an edgy tone and a strong groove.
Ben's voice tends to mirror the style in which he writes. It can be soft and subtle as well as wailing in full on rage.

Signed to the famed hip-hop label ruffhouse/columbia in 1995 (for unknown reasons) he released "Almost Speechless", a master-work collection of mid-decade, yet timeless, punchy and poignant pop. Well received by the press, yet poorly promoted by the label, he then rejoined the ranks of independent artists.
With plenty of material in hand he slowly but surely completed "In Case I'm Gone Tomorrow" a compilation of two years demos and old favorite tunes. Although for the most part, Ben writes on his own, he has worked on a production level with the consistent help and artistry of many other very talented people including Barrie Maguire; a founding member of The Wallflowers and a band member and producer of Natalie Merchants' Tigerlily cd as well as many other should-be-knowns. Producer Ian Cross credited for his patience and artistic integrity
produced and mixed with Ben on several projects as well. Ian is most known for his work with Studio 4's Butcher Brothers as well as current projects with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Also on board has been the zany Erik Horvitz who produced some of the tracks on "In Case..." during some of the most memorable crazy, hazy sessions ever is also responsible for recording one of the fave hometown Philly bands' Huffamoose as well as many other notable projects.
Currently the live Ben Band includes producer-singer-brilliant musician dude Scott Bricklin, guitarist Jason Loughlin, multi-instrumentalist Todd Barneson adn my fave new drummer around... Matty Muir.

Ben is also in the Sanctuary/BMG records band 4 WAY STREET which released a disc in February 2004.
Ben has finished his next solo release and plans a May 2004 launch.

This is a really awesome CD. Very reminiscent of older style music which I love!

  • Just a single piece of an incredible collection

Buy this cd. Make sure you also buy "Almost Speechless". Then buy all of Joseph Parsons, Jim Boggia and Scott Bricklin's (Martin's Dam)cds. Now you have the base for the one of the most talented group of performers collaborating together, "4 way Street". Buy it!!!! Great lyrics, harmonies and music. Ben's music is brilliant, it lowers the pulse and comforts the mind...A Huge fan in Canada. Peace.

Great classic rock. AOR pop. Tom Petty style. Very cool.

  • Get it in case it's gone tomorrow
    author: Erwino Ouwerkerk

I was 'Almost speechless' because of his last album and fortunately there still is no need to open my mouth. 32 intense, funny, serious and happy songs fill this album. Most of which are plain good songs. You don't have to buy it for the quantity though, most of the songs are worth the twelve bucks on their own.

  • if you know a good singer song writer when you hear it!

This album is a great introduction to Ben Arnold. If emotional lyrics accopanied by a seductive voice is what you long to hear more of, (and know it can be hard to find in today's music), buy this cd. Trust me you won't be disappionted. It also has 16 mp3 tracks! Personal favorite tracks; firefly, puerto rico, and so lo!
