This album is too diverse to fully capture with a few sound clips. Expect more roots and downtempo/triphop beats, whereas the 2003 release "Great Mystery" incorporates some faster drum and bass/jungle type beats over rhyme, chant, vocal styles. Much live band and acoustic stuff too, plus many surprises.
Arjun and Guardians have been on tour almost non stop since since 2000. Playing coast to coast USA and beyond: ie: Hawaii,Canada... Thousands of CD's have been sold, and there are likely many tens of thousands distributed underground.
His voice has been likened by reviewers to Ben Harper (Metro Santa Cruz), and Bob Marley (Chicago Journal, others). Jivamukti Yoga (The western world's most renown yoga center/resource) has also placed Arjun among the top 5 bhajan/kirtan singers in the western world in their newest book "Jivamukti Yoga".
Arjun and Guardians have recently shared stages with such acts as...
Israel Vibrations, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Midnite, Burning Spear, Melvin Seals and the Jerry Garcia Band, Derek Trucks Band,The Abyssinians, Scientist, Prezident Brown, Karl Denson, Pato Banton, The Congos, Clinton Fearon (of the Gladiators), Soul Asylum, Jefferson Starship, Lost at Last, Hamsa Lila, Krishna Das, Bhagwan Das, Scott Huckabay, Joules Graves, Shimshai, Sasha , and John Brown's Body.
P.S. If you'd like to see what Arjun was up to in the early 90's, check out his indie alt noise rock band APE- available at CD baby
P.P.S. Arjun is featured in William Klein's "Baraka"-esqe motion picture masterpiece "Le Messie". (google- arjun spinner le messie)

New double reggae CD contains all the beats and roots, eastern and western influences pulled together to recode your ears, body, and soul. With inspired vocal performances, and a collective of over 40 musicians. Some songs contain heart-felt lyrics over ambient trip-hop beats, with reggae instrumentation. A must listen for reggae and trip-hop fans.

author: tyeThis cd has helped me so much, focus my vibe on the positive, and still rage with style, energy, poetry, and full on creativity. original stuff, amazing vocals, not thug, really conscious, but not tooo serious either. righteous!
wow!
author: Jivamukti NYC, Sharon GannonWOW! the new CD is wonderous. Last sun night Bhagavan Das was over to our house for dinner and I played him your other cd. He had never heard you before. He thought he was listening to a sadu singing in a temple in India. Your sound is so pure and filled with Bhakti. He was incredulous when I told him a little about you. You are truely gifted. But of course this is karma. You have a destiny and you have worked for many lifetimes to refine a soul and body capable of expressing the Divine like this. So all I can say really is Thank you! thank you for gracing us all with the love which is in the sound of your blessed voice. It speaks of the celestial realms where the gods delight.Hearing you we are reminded of the joy which is our own soul's nature and being reminded we can begin to wake up to our destiny as everlasting happiness. May God continue to bless you, dear Arjun,

review of 2001's "cave of brahma"
author: David EspinozaReggae Stew:..- Just who the hell are Arjun & the Guardians Collective? I'm still not sure, but local dreadlock rasta music never sounded so good. The collective seems to date back a couple of years, and its latest two-CD project, Cave of Brahma, is nothing short of stunning. The product of a number of semispontaneous jams that have taken place mostly in Santa Cruz (other sites include Seattle and the Big Apple), Cave of Brahma is a heavily baked mix of Irie reggae stew, Eastern chanting and rhythms and ambient tribal beats. Mellow and slightly focused at times, the tracks are equal parts belly dancer, stoner, mystic and raver and weaved together so gracefully it's hard to tell when they begin or end. Leading the tunes is vocalist Arjun, who prefers the roots method as opposed to dance-hall--his voice has Ben Harper potential. What makes the effort particularly unique is the instrumentation, which ranges from traditional guitars to djembes, harmoniums, keyboards and other unspecified Eastern toys. While the trip-hop and Eastern rhythms have successfully been merged by DJs over the past few years, Arjun & the Guardians seem to be breaking new ground by doing it live with reggae. Track 10, a.k.a. "Coding Scripture," for example is a electronic take on Robert Nesta Marley's "Burning 'n' Looting."
Totally addicted. Full power
author: Elijah WinniaSo many people I know all around the states can't seem to get this disc out of their players! So addictive, so inspiring, so energizing. Diverse styles-high energy and deep space. Bored?- then go get this record, the 2 1/2 hours of words, vocals and muzic sounds will keep you tranced for hundreds! of listens. Guardians has some older releases worth checking out too(arjunspin@hotmail.com- request a e-catalog), and i think a new album soon? Plus- Arjun does east indian chanting in the project called Bhajananandi, (vol.1-3) that'll put Krishna das to shame!
