notes
Arizing is a five-piece alternative/rock band from Detroit, Michigan. Arizing has a refreshingly ear-awakening dynamic not unlike some of music's most notable and timeless artists, yet possesses a strikingly distinct sound that separates them from the realms of today's stagnant music climate.
Since 1998, Arizing has been independently cultivating a dedicated fan base by a strict routine of performing and promoting. March of 2002 marked Arizing's debut full length release on Medea Records entitled 'Womb' produced by Tony Hamera (Factory 81). Their August 2003 release, 'Advance', produced by Grant Mohrman (Celldweller, Jettared) and mastered by Tom Baker (Stone Temple Pilots, Marilyn Manson, Taproot) sets a new standard for the sound of Arizing by clearly portraying their truest capabilities and representing the direction of their music. The opening track, 'False Semester', is a melody-rich upbeat ballad that demonstrates the full rock essense of Arizing. Conversely, 'The Big L (Falling In Love Again)' leans towards 80's pop, and exhibits Arizing's inherent knack for solid song writing and strong vocal hooks. 'Pinky Swear' and 'Sour Patch' represent their more prominent aggressive side, yet still validates the undeniable fact that Arizing is not your average alt/rock or pop/punk outfit.

Arizing - Detroit, MI. Emotionally driven, melodic, heavy alternative/rock with atmosphere and a touch of emo/post-hardcore influence. Combines elements of A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins and Failure/Year of the Rabbit with Far, Incubus & Glassjaw. Advance EP (August 2003), was recorded by Grant Mohrman (Celldweller, Jettared) and mastered by Tom Baker (Taproot, Static-X, Stone Temple Pilots).

"Arizing have rapidly become one of the Detroit area's brightest young hard rock acts, quickly assuming the crown that Factory 81 once wore proudly. "Advance" documents the band's continued growth as musicians, and it is impressive to see the group bloom into such a melodically proficient hard rock ensemble. While it is apparent that they have been learning from such groups as U2 and The Cure, the band still show a much more adventurous understanding of how to write dynamic songs that focus on a wealth of emotions, and the juxtaposition of light and dark tones thickens their sound tenfold. This material is also much more accessible, insinuating it's infectious nature into one's memory with ease."

"For those of you who have not heard of Arizing, they can be likend to bands like Incubus and Hoobastank, minus the Brandon Boyd-ish vocals. Vocalist Matt Dalton's voice can be described as a hybrid between Brandon Boyd and Stephen Richards of Taproot. The music of Arizing reminds me of the late Mad at Gravity. Hopefully, that generalization can give you an idea of what they sound like. The four tracks on this disc are great. They flow very smoothly, and most of all, they sound incredible. Produced by Grant Mohrman, this CD sounds awesome. Crisp, fresh, completely clear. You couldn't ask for better production on this CD. This should be one of the more popular underground CD's of the year, easily."

Only four songs? Come on...
author: Ronin81This cd is great! It's like a weird mix of Finch meets Iced Earth in a realm produced by the engineers of the "Lost Boys" soundtrack. Not really 'screamo', not really metal, but somewhere wandering in between both (if that's possible). I wish there were more than four songs, but this band seems to have a lot of talent! Great buy!
This CD is extremely Fresh
author: M. CHiZzleI am not sure why this band is not nationally recognized yet. Get this CD now!
Worth EVERY Penny
author: CHINASKI (www.cdbaby.com/cd/chinaski)This album has been getting constant play in my stereo and at times I find myself humming along to the vocals. The only drawback is that there are only four tracks but other than that, it's still a great album. For what the price of it is, it is worth every penny. I strongly recommend that you buy this.
Energy laden, guitar driven sensibility, harmonic lyrics, with memorable chorus
author: Dave DaltonAdvance brings a multitude of musical ideas and influences into a new genre that melds solid guitar work with thoughtful lyrics, singalong harmonies, and heartfelt delivery. Dynamically produced to offer both the subtlety of voice against a single guitar and the full blown power of a hotrodded Marshall stack, Advance delivers a forceful combination of thump and melody. Upfront vocals matched with well constructed backup lines are anchored by an insistent bass/drum rhythm section and underlying background fretwork. Utilizing hooks and twists in tones and pacing, Advance rediscovers the art of song "arranging" that allows each song to stand up to repeated listening. Besides, Sour Patch reminds me of the 60's Ann Arbor, Mi band, SRC, complete with Scotty Richardson's vocal styling and Gary Quackenbush's Les Paul. That makes it worthwhile, in and of itself. Good Job, kids....
Band grows and proves it
author: MikeIf a band is growing musically, their music needs to reflect that change. Many bands make claims and fail to live up to their own hype. But the hype surrounding this Detroit, Michigan band is not over the top and is well deserved. After a line up change and the successful release of their full-length album 'Womb', Arizing displayed their diverse influences and ability to touch on every emotion in the spectrum in just one song. Going from subtle melodies to what sounds like an all out war, while incorporating numerous influences from ska and emo, to nu-metal and grunge, Arizing have forged their own sound and niche in the music community. With the release of their new EP 'Advance' Arizing has pushed those boundries even further. In doing so, they have uped the melody in their sound and made the moments more explosive. The opening track 'False Semester', which would be a single on any major-label record, has a steady build up of melody with lyrics that most people could identify with. The second track 'Pinky Swear' has a bouncy feel to it and is very unique in the contrast between the instruments and vocals. Eventually, this leads to a soft moment that turns into what feel like cries for help. Very powerful. Next up, 'The Big L (Falling in Love Again)' shows the bands diverse interests and ability to make any style sound like them. The 80's new wave inspired song is very straight forward unlike the first two tracks but is a very touching song, and also incorporates some programming pieces. Easily their most accessible track. The final track 'Sour Patch' is clearly the best song on the album though, as well as the most rocking. This song will be sure to have heads bobbing and a pit or two break out. The whole song is a build up to the explosion of angst at the end. A preview of things to come? Who knows. But this album proves this band has what it takes. Dont miss out and pick up this album!
Totally awesome

Essential
author: Dan DaltonThis is a fantastic showcase of Arizing's work. A little metal, a little retro, and a lot of good solid songcrafting. Advance is just that -- the reworking of good songs into great ones.
I came
author: Uno mastaThis CD is easily the best CD to come out this week. It was just so rockin'. I started listening to it and I had a huge erection the entire way through. Possibly becase I was also watching "four_finger_club.avi" at the same time. But I am sure it was partially due to the CD as well.
