notes
Cerebral comic stylings from the world's only linguistics grad student who moonlights as a standup comic! Thrill to the hilarious sketches and deliciously bad poetry of Minnesota's own Ari Hoptman.
"Hoptman's style is cerebral and Alpo-dry but also seizure-inducingly funny." --Peter Ritter, City Pages
Special bonus: "900 Years of Beef" QuickTime video! Mac or PC compatible.

Brilliant AND useful
author: EuniceEverything on this CD is fantastic. The poetry is outstandingly awful, Genesis is a sublime flash of brilliance, though perhaps this is clearer if one sees the performance. The presentation of 900 Years of Beef is not only hilarious (all of Hoptman's line-drawing-animated stories are) it is also a marvelous classroom tool for history, philology, German, English, Comp Lit...it's up there with Anna Russell's explanation of the Ring Cycle. Brilliant stuff.
This might be the funniest CD EVER!
author: Jay MichalskiI have never laughed so much listening to one CD before in my entire life. Every tract is flawless and truly funny on many levels. Everyone should listen to this CD sometime.

Cerebral comic spoken-word stylings. For fans of Monty Python, Andy Kaufman, and Steven Wright.
exhaustingly indefatigable incomprehensibly perceptive zaniness
author: zisixiThis guy has something. You should get it. There is an erudite rudeness and light hearted depth to his whimsical poesy and poetic whimsy. I've always wondered why we call cow meat beef. Now I know.
Excellent
author: A. C. FitzpatrickDestined to be a household name, Hoptman delivers an eclectic array of laser-like, wry, intelligent, and occasionally hard-biting sketches, stories, and poems. Dang is clever, immensely entertaining, and a damn fine CD.
Great CD!
author: Mark NewlonThere are so many wonderful moments on this CD that I couldn't begin to list them all, but if you have half a brain you'll find yourself listening again and again, making sure that you didn't miss something the first time. Hoptman draws on his diverse academic background to weave a tapestry of humor that will leave you shaking your head in awe. Never one to settle for the quick joke, Hoptman's skits are a wonderful soup of absurdity, perversity, and verbosity. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD; I can't recommend it highly enough.
