"Recess Serenade... is a powerful hook-laden affair that brings to mind bands such as Jellyfish, Ben Folds and Fountains of Wayne... it's likely that the strength of the songs and their performance on their new album will catapult the foursome into new levels of popular and critical success."
-Starpolish.com
"Great Harmonies; check! Unforgettable melodies; check! Clear production; check! Lots of talent; check! Boatloads of hooks; check! The Argument are absolutely 100% the real deal! Every song on this 10 cut sophomore CD is a hit. This is an absolute must for fans of power pop and melodic rock. One of the best CD's of the past 12 months and it really just does not get any better than this."

BIO
Hailing from Morgantown, WV, a major East Coast college town, the Argument was a smart alt-pop quartet that combined clever, creative songwriting and infectious melodies to produce a sound full of raw wit and energy. The combo's trademark keyboard-driven pop hooks and penchant for lush four-part harmony garnered critical praise and prompted comparisons to Ben Folds, Fountains of Wayne and Jellyfish.
the Argument was invited to perform twice on National Public Radio's "Mountain Stage," a cutting-edge radio program which regularly showcases the talents of such national mainstays as R.E.M., Elvis Costello, They Might Be Giants and Barenaked Ladies. Recently, the Argument was named Top Ten unsigned bands in the country by the American Music Awards and Coca-Cola and was named Best in West Virginia by Graffiti Magazine.

Nostalgic and catchy
author: shanAct My Age certainly defines everything I am at this point... and it's what made me get the cd. Great purchase and I do not regret it. Poppish, catchy rock, and it's a perfect retreat from out-there indie every once and a while.
Wow!
author: CodiWhat a great album! I was skeptical at first because I usually only listen to Rap and R&B, but my friend got me into these guys last semester in college. I love it! They sing better than Usher and Justin combined. (Although I haven't seen them dance...)
perfectly suited for listeningto when staying at home on purpose to dance
author: PattiI could listen to this CD in the car with my toddlers or at a party with my friends. The lyrics are clever, the music is intelligent and exciting.
this cd is rocktastic
author: JessicaThis CD is rocktastic!!! This is one cd that i can leave in my CD player and actually let it play all the way through, you don't get to many CD's like that anymore. This CD just keeps the music coming, the energy pumping, and the songs are great........

author: JenniferAmazing!
Super Power Pop.Every song is Class!!
author: Irish Butch Walker FanThis album is so Amazing. It has got everything from big harmonies to big synths. If you like Bleu/Butch Walker or Jellyfish you gotta check these guys out. This album is by far better than their first one but a lot more money has been put into it with a super job done on production.I can't get this cd out of my player or my head. They Rule!!!
A Sunburst of "Oh Yeah"!! A triumph over evil everywhere!!
author: MevenThis CD is so awesome! The harmonies are like a group of old magnetic racetrack sets side by side...just perfectly lined up and wicked fun! The band is tighter then the snug hug of elastic on in July! Song one is mega-KILLER! I think my favorite is Speak my mind...a song written from a cat's point of view! BRILLIANT! If this CD were a woman I would marry it, if it were a kid I would buy it ice cream and ask it to sit down and play a game of Sorry with me. If it were an elephant, I would ride it, but if it were a CD, which it just so happens to be, I would recommend it to everyone I know and listen to it everyday until they put out another CD and then...then I would smile! I SAY TO THE BAND GREAT CD! I SAY TO THE FAN BUY IT! BUY TWO...because someone you know is going to want one and you might as well have an extra...you might as well...
Jellyfish is gone, but now dig The Argument!
author: The Heater"Recess Serenade" was an enormously pleasant surprise. Some of the best heirs to the Jellyfish throne since The Tories and Skycycle, and The Argument might be even better. "Song One" is the 21st-century equivalent of "(Joining A) Fan Club," and there's not a bad track on the CD. A bit of Greenberry Woods, a bit of magic - and ultra-nice production. If you dig any of the afore-mentioned bands, go check this out!
AWESOME

Wow!! Ok So How Can I book this band in Nashville!! I agree with JJ since he introduced this to me!! Get down here guys. NAshville desperatly needs a breath of fresh musical air. Cuz there is not much music coming out of this town but pure crap!! You guys are rockin!! Jellyfish,,,,Forget them gone! The Argument! A name all musicians need to here!!
EXCELLENT power pop!
author: JJOkay, so I've worn out my Jellyfish "Spilt Milk" CD for years now waiting for a suitable replacement -- this CD is it. Can't wait to turn on my fellow bandmates to this disc. Great band, great hooks, great harmonies, great melodies. Major thumbs up!
Smooth and Powerful
author: Doug, powerpop fan in St. LouisReally like this cd. Lead vocals are mesmerizing and cover a lot of ground stylistically. The tunes really wrap themselves around you in a comfortable embrace. Poppyier side of powerpop, but enough energy to easily make the cut. Everybody's Sellin Something was a little Fountains of Wayne'ish, which is a good thing. Soaked is gorgeous. Call In Sick is SO TRUE to this workaholic, and ROCKS out! GREAT EFFORT. Can't wait to hear more from these guys!
AWESOME!
author: NatalieThe Argument is awesome! Although I am biased being from Fairmont, WV, these guys are one of the best groups out right now. I loved their first CD, so of course, I had to get the second one! They just keep getting better and better! Way to go, guys!!!
It doesn't get any better than this
author: Diana S."Recess Serenade" is quite a follow up from The Argument's previous album "Your New Favorite Band". The album combines fast paced alternative music which is mixed with multi-part harmonies and incredible instrumentals. Songs on "Recess Serenade" talk about everything from the media to a cat named Cheddar. If you don't like this album, then you don't like good music.
tight harmonies, deep lyrics, rockin music
author: LaurenThe Argument's Sophomore album is a great success. They've found their sound. Merging 80's rock with today's pop, they have uncovered new territory. Their first album was a little sparatic, this one is much more focused. With songs like "movin in" and "Everyone's sellin something" they really shine. I give this album 5 stars. it should be a staple of every cd collection
Can't believe more people don't know about these guys
author: Kyle in OhioI've been following these guys for about 3 years and they get better every year!! Wake up people. Real music by real musicians, every track is strong and ready for major exposure. Quality work!!
Awsome
author: Tim AngstenFrom the songs i heard it was great. I love the lyrics and melodies.
They're my new favorite band! har har.
author: Luke MillsTheir first album was called "Your new favorite band" but this album really has made them my new favorite band. After falling in love with a few songs that a friend had me listen to I decided to order this album. I love it! I'm a huge Ben Folds fan and The Argument fits right in to my tastes. I've found every single song applicable to my life in some way. It's like these guys have been following me around writing music just for me. Thanks The Argument, now I must get "Your new favorite band."

author: greg grammerclassic power pop! every song goes in your ears and twists and turns around your brain, makes a home and then ends up going out of your mouth. this is the most singable /memorable collection of high energy pop songs since the 2 jellyfish cd's. the production is top notch and rocks! i bought it 4 weeks ago and have listened to it 98 times and still can not take it out of my cd player! this cd is now on my top 10 of all time! you really should treat yourself and buy it now! 5 out of 4 stars...it really is that good.
dude it was awesome like you just wanted to get up and dance
author: liveethis cd was the greatest ever. its been in my cd player for like 2 months straight. The songs are great and easy to understand ...there songs about REAL life and things that a lot of people go through
It's THE shit...A Life-Changing Experience
author: CrigBy far the most badass-tified album to come out of north-central West Virginia in the history of badass-tified albums. Blast it through your systems with good ol' American Pride. This ain't yomama's rock. This is a glorious collection of amplified genius. Too much rock for one hand! A collection of uniquely intuitive masterpieces.
If you do not have this record, your collection is not complete!!
author: JeremyThe CD is absolutly great. The production is excellent and the mix is almost flawless. Not to mention the music itself which my favorite. It has acessible lyrics and witty harmonies and music to drive the point home. This is my favorite albu out right now in any idiom of music. Anybody who calls themself a music fan must check this album out.
Buy it Now!
author: Nancy HarrivanRecess Serenade is a fun, listen to the whole thing, stuck in your cd player for months album. Each track has quirky lyrics(that make you smile when you hear them) and catchy melodies. Candy for the Ears.
Catchy Songs, Stellar Production Make This a Must-Buy
author: Matt BestermanRemember when pop songs had melody, harmony, clever lyrics, and were played and sung with verve and energy? The Argument keeps the flame alive with "Recess Serenade," their second album. From the first bar of "Song One," you know you're in the hands of four guys who know killer pop music inside and out (think Fountains of Wayne meets Jellyfish). It's all here: hooks that grab you and don't let go, crafty four-part harmonies, lyrics you'll want to memorize, excellent musicianship. Did I mention they rock, too? There's hardly a lull on this disc. The production values, too, are ready for radio, and belong all over it. This is a must-own CD; someday you'll say "I knew them when."
Salvation for ears EVERYWHERE.
author: Alison ZacconeThis album showcases the individually amazing talents of the band's members- Chris' addicting drum beats, Matt's mind-bending guitar riffs, Brent's funky bass lines, and Scott's power piano melodies, and, AT THE SAME TIME, the tracks on this album are bonded together by flawless four-part harmony and a collective desire to kick your ear's ASS. This album combines everything you love about The Beatles, Billy Joel, and old school barbershop quartets with everything that rocks your socks off about today's alternative rock and pop music. I will accuse you of having no soul if this album doesn't get to you, or at the very least get stuck in your head.
This is what we've needed! Finally!
author: JennaAll I can say is THANK YOU! This is what we have needed for SOOOOOO long. A huge album that crosses all the expected from a caliber act with new sounds and even catchier hooks- if that is possible!!! I will keep this one on steady rotation in my CD mix! Recess Serenade (love the title) is 100% awesome!
