notes
How did something like this ever come into being? We don’t know. We were hoping you might. It was neither starlit nor breezy. We remember putting our hands against a very warm, large, domestic animal at one point and wondering if its massive heart (required to shwoosh blood through all that blocky flesh that a family might devour one night in a frenzy of dark wine-red gobbling mouth-drip grins), yes the large heart might somehow invoke factors, principled or otherwise, or other hermeneutic shaping influences, to guide us in the recording. We don’t think that happened, and some people were unhappy. The guy holding the ocelot cried.
At one point one of the walls got into an argument with the ceiling about who should be on top. The ceiling pointed out to the wall that it was not a matter of simply trading places as the ceiling had a lot on top of it, it couldn’t just move, etc. Sometimes we would sing, and the sound would get sucked into the walls. Hours would go by. Then the sky would turn red.. It wasn’t easy. We recorded using equipment.
Anwar and the Masters is musician and technical expert Hoob and producer and not-really-a-musician Burton Nairobi, with the gracious and tendentious contributions of other local eccentrics who share our psychological tendencies and moral proclivities. It has been said that we resemble oxen (stories of horns not being able to fit through the door), while at other times, birds. Yes we do suffer, we will admit, from an elevated blood temperature and a strong need to be close to water.
Anwar and the Masters do not tour as we find life “on the road” to be tantamount to shopping for cabbage at a CoffinMart. We sincerely hope however that our debut offering motivates either you, a part of you, or someone you don’t know.

parody music at its finest!
author: Sane IberianIf you loved the parody comedy movie "Spinal Tap" and you also enjoy the quirky avant garde bizarreness of 'The Residents', this album is right up your alley. The cd covers everything from hip hop, country, folk, rock, and reggae...with a tongue n' cheek twist that'll make you laugh till your sides hurt. From each track, to the cover artwork, to the name of the band, every aspect of this project is a well thought out brilliant piece of comedy backed by some well produced catchy melodies. Eeees good, I liiiike.
surprise sounds of the year - amazing combo: humor, musicality
author: Cutting Edge CultureAnwar and the Masters are masters of keeping us grooving while bringing on the hillarious satirical, subtle and in yo face simultaneous. There's a range of ideas and musical style so well executed - that this is likely to create major underground momentum. There isn't enough music like this! Which is a good thing for these guys as they have the market cornered for compelling music/humor. Dig this cd - you will be glad. Turn on your friends to this find - while it's still unfound.
How -can- I put it in ten words or less?
author: Michael KoenigI've never quite heard anything like this. It's often hilarious satire, but sometimes not. It's unclassifiable and multi-genre, but what they do in the myriad genres is done so well. I don't know who these guys are but it's mysteriously intriguing, and every song is different. You've got comedic rock, weird electronica, demented demonic rap, glurpy tribal-ambient, reggae, scratchy 1930s popular song, and my favorite, a hip-hop track about Beethoven! Now that's humor. Who are these guys? More please.
