notes
Antagonics is a rebel, independent and alternative rock band from Barcelona, Catalonia that combines the power of the sound with smooth melodies full of stream-of-conscious narratives.
Antagonics was formed in Barcelona, Catalonia in 2007. After a few concerts (Festival de Trobadors i Joglars, al Festival Fusionica 9.0, Festival Emergenza, etc.) and the incorporation of new musicians they launched the debut album.
In concerts, apart from the musical show, they incorporate some performance especially for each case and if the place allows it with visual projections. Lately they also interprets a more intimist version with new songs in acoustic format.
The band's debut album (Work In Progress...) was released in early 2008 by their own independent label AN Records.

Outstanding Alternative Rock CD
author: William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team"Work In Progress...." by Antagonics is a Spanish alternative rock album that combines a gritty punk sound with beautiful, catchy melodies. The sound of this band is unique in that it draws its power from both rebellion and sensitivity. Some songs are purely edgy and rebellious in nature, while others lean more toward the emo side of the rock spectrum. The arrangements are solid and air-tight, with interesting changes and creative progressions. The vocals are best described as ‘just right’ - well delivered and well paced. The opener, "Obre Els Ulls,” stands out as an in-your-face dirge with a strong classic punk sound. The vocals are angry, and so are the guitars. "Rebel" takes a different approach with a driving rhythm, nice piano progression, and a heartfelt vocal performance. "Freedom" opens with drums and a creepy guitar swell, quickly turning into a real fist-pumper. If you like Pixies or Rage Against the Machine, you'll enjoy this CD.
