notes
Anjani Thomas' celestial contralto illuminates the ancient names of God on ten original songs of praise.
Lovers of inspirational music will find these renderings of the sacred names of the God of Gods in the tradition of the prophets and sages, to be a quickening call to energy, inspiration, devotion and spiritual sustenance. With majestic and heartfelt compassion, and striking, all-embracing reverence, Anjani's voice is like hearing the music inside the temple of the human heart.
Her gorgeous classical guitar accompianment highlights several tracks, including the vocal tour de force, Kyrie. YHVH and Jehovah celebrate the glory of salvation. Ari Shemot is a delightful, unexpected samba sung in English and Portuguese.
This magnificent collection of contemporary sacred hymns is as inspiring as it is inspired. Words are good, but they are not the best; the spirit in which we act with the music of the soul--this is supreme over all.

How can I express the gratitude for this album? It surpasses excellence! I often listen to it- during study, and especially going to bed! I am a student of the NAME, and these expressions in song are phenomenal! Thanks very, very much! Shalom!

My soul was dancing and singing along!
author: MarieI heard rumor that this album can't be categorized. Why don't they just have a category called "great," because this album is nothing less? Anjani has a voice that nourishes the soul and this album is all about the soul. There is a beauty to this music, to these lyrics, to these sacred names, that transcended my intellectual necessity for order and categories. After hearing these songs it was my soul that was dancing and singing along. Really it should be no surprise that this record would penetrate the soul, the voice of an angel carried on music of our time speaking sacred names encoded in our spiritual genes. A reaction is almost guaranteed. And I can tell you that my reaction was to play this record again and again to re-experience the warmth and love it conveys.
Anjani - The Sacred Names
author: Girlmedia.com - Geneva WorldAnjani takes a different approach on her sophomore release, The Sacred Names, produced with Leonard Cohen. Using her delicate harmonies and talent as a keyboardist, Anjani sings her praises to the Lord. But don't expect the usual Christian album here. Anjani continues to include her Hawaiian/Jazz/Folk influences, making The Sacred Names stand out from contemporary Christian releases.
