Andy Garrett has not only played guitar for over 30 years, but he has also written and recorded over 300 original songs under his own independent record labels. He has worked professionally in the music industry with companies such as “Dean Markley”, “American Winding Company”, and “The Palmer School of Music”; while also appearing in the national magazine “Kiplinger’s Personal Finance” (January 1994 issue). Andy is a “Chops From Hell” artist, and has performed 100’s of professional live shows in various bands.
Andy’s music is Hard Rock, but it is also very different at the same time. While his influences can be heard in his music, this is not a CD you will listen to and find the same old stuff. There are creative twists and turns down many new unexplored paths that keep you jamming hard and heavy throughout.
The CD is recorded to give you a live feel for each of the songs, and you will hear a band that enjoys what they do while still seriously nailing each track. The rhythm section of Randy Rich (bass) and Chad Hamilton (drums) truly brings each song alive.
Starting with the songs ‘Melody of Life’ and ‘Will We Make it in Time’, there are some great hooks to be found within the catchy riffs and hard driving beats. The band also gets to shine instrumentally on ‘Journey to Truth’, followed by the hard driving rocker ‘False Religion’. The band even manages to dabble in the odd time meter of 6/8 time on ‘Happiness Forgotten / Rememberance’, and shifts gears again on the song ‘Try to Stand Still’ with funky rock rhythms. ‘After All I’ve Done’ gives you some straight forward rock, while ‘The Offset Horizon’ takes you on a lyrical journey into the unknown. The most blazing of Andy’s seasoned guitar work can be heard on ‘The Wailer’, followed by what could be a brand new punk rock anthem in ‘Beat the Bishop’.
Whatever your style of rock, there is something for you to jam out to. A well put together album that you can crank up as loud as you want, with a unique message in each song that will last you a lifetime. And, Andy promises; “this is only the beginning of a very long Rock journey”!
