notes

Freedom is such a loosely used word in the America's lexicon. What constitutes freedom? Unfortunately this world traps us in many ways. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally.

Andrew Sorenson's debut album, "Dream It Good," allows the listener to escape from the realities that settle in our brain cavities. This album is truly liberating, and is what all pop/rock-soul-R&B hybrids should be: good, raw, fun, and funky. Sorenson mixes '60s-style rock with '70s soul in an eclectic celebration of sound.

This is and extremely fun, collection of postmodern rock ditties that comes off as a pleasantly workable combination of Tin Pan Alley showmanship. Sorenson expands well on the hook-laden songcraft heard in “Jesus is the Way to Heaven.” This is the type of album that might take a few listens - can be raw and simple at times - but beneath the surface is a great deal of substance. Sorenson has a knack for melody and chord progression - probably his strongest suit.

Sorenson wins with his first solo effort. At every turn, "Dream It Good" finds Sorenson to be a mature, thoughtful, and gifted musician who fully grasps his place - not just in the record industry, but in life.

Sorenson doesn't shy away from making a statement, but he does a great job of juxtaposing his thoughts within fun riffs and catchy melodies. He definitely expresses his influences throughout.
