notes

Amy's Arms is an experiment in low frequencies and vocals from Siren and Mr. Ratt.... but don't be scared by that..

Just who are Siren and Mr. Ratt you may ask.....?

Siren is a wonderful lyricist/vocalist who has been in the music trade for a number of years, beginning her career in Montreal, Canada, and eventually ending up in Toronto as lead vocalist with Fly By Night, a Rush tribute band of no small repute. After doing some musical meandering through a few situations, she stumbled upon Mr. Ratt....

Mr. Ratt (bass guitars & track programming)was a founding member of Vegas Beach, and former bassist with New World Disorder (the Oscar Wildes of the punk set...) and is the constant thread in Toronto's legendary blues band Tombstone Bullets.

Both members have wide and varied influences, ranging from the Visual Kei of Japan to the deep southern blues of Macon, Georgia, and off further still into the foggy moors of England and the elegance and mystery of a starry night in Paris.

The songs are about vampires, sex, love gone right, love gone wrong.
All the normal things in life.

furtherdown.org said ... "They seem to expertly mix a refined elegant sound with just the right hint of creepy darkness, a music equivalent of the Victorian Gothic style."

...and, from more voices in the crowd....
"Unsettling in a most pleasant way"
"A sense of foreboding invitation"
"Bohemian"
"I came expecting traditional melodies and got harmonic dissonance. Cool."
"...I think I love this music."
"I listened to it. It was AWESOME!"
"Excellent music. I love it very mucho!"
"Such soulful music. It really invokes passion in me. I love it!!"
"Haunting... I want to turn it off because it gives me the chills, but I can't."
...and Amy's personal favourite... from a 14 year old girl and her friends to her mother,
"Mom, turn it off, it's creeping us out..."

Come be embraced by Amy's Arms....

  • Amazing!!
    author: The Kentucky Siren

This CD is amazing. The vocals are beautiful; Siren is an amazing singer. The bass.....well what can I say....Michael is at it AGAIN!! The bass is hypnotizing, mystical, takes you into yourself and makes you really FEEL. You HAVE TO buy this CD and give it a very good listen. You will be swept away, turned on and tuned in by this music. From one of the "trio", I'm still around. Great work guys, keep it coming and best of luck to you both. Let's dance.......

  • What the Canadians produce here can be absolutely heard...
    author: Northern Gothics

AMY'S ARMS play almost minimalist DarkWave. A stoic bass sets the beat as a red thread, while Siren's voice, rich in variations, breathes her life into the tracks. ...At first listen the tracks seem very similar, but with more precise attention, the small, playful extravagances of this fine disc reveal themselves.

  • Trim, twisted, tremendous.
    author: Mick Mercer

It’s only seven songs, but is every bit as fulfilling as a full album... Trim, twisted, tremendous.

  • I love the emotional vibes between the lines!!

  • I absolutely LOVE your music!! Is there a new album coming soon?
    author: D. Kranenburg

I absolutely LOVE your music!! A few months ago I heard "Blood on the Rocks" for the first time, on GothvilleRadio(GVR), and I just had to hear more... So I requested "Sanctus"on GVR and the next thing I knew was that I had bought the album. I'm really looking forward to hearing more Amy's Arms, is there a new album coming soon?

  • author: M. Thompson

It sounds like the kind of music that you would have playing in the background while having tea with the devil.

  • author: Trixy!

They describe themselves as 'Gothic lounge', which doesn't do their dark seductive music any form of justice. They seem to expertly mix a refined elegant sound with just the right hint of creepy darkness, a music equivalent of the Victorian Gothic style.

  • author: Sebastien Wormwood (R. Stevens, WA)

I would like to compliment you both on a superb musical experience. It brings, both at once, a feeling of contentment, serenity and peace that I find difficult to see in the world today, as well as a daunting, melodic “being watched” feeling and that if I turned around, someone (not necessarily bad) would be standing there. Overall, incredible music made just for music’s sake…something we are sadly lacking in the world today.
