Amrita, meaning Nectar, was born out of pure love of simplicity and sound, but certainly only represents one facet of both Jeremy Dyen And Thomas Flanagan. The idea was to create a cd that was organic and acoustic, melodic and textural, and perhaps most importantly one that settle the listener in a place that doesn't move too much or bombard the listener with excess of information--just simple, beautiful music.

Thomas Flanagan is a Philadelphia musician who also performs with the extremely talented acoustic Indian fusion band One. Thomas plays sitar, acoustic guitar and electric guitar and sings. He has performed throughout the U.S. and has studied sitar in Calcutta, India.

Jeremy Dyen is a Philadelphia musician who performs also with underground prog-pop rock giants, Blivit, as well as Alo Brasil and the world drumming orchestra, Spoken Hand. He has also recorded with platinum artist John Legend, and performed with Zakir Hussain, Digable Planets and G-Love. Jeremy plays piano, tabla, lap steel guitar, guitar and sings.

Both Thomas and Jeremy are avid writers with broad influences and tastes. Amrita was composed, recorded, produced and mastered entirely by Thomas Flanagan and Jeremy Dyen.

Amrita is constantly growing and changing. Look for the more progressive follow-up Amrita creation in the near future--including remixes of songs from the first cd!

  • Beautiful acoustic blend
    author: Xia Raburn

This beautiful album is an acoustic splendor of sitar, guitar, tabla, piano that combines the rich sounds of the east into a melodic blend of western rhythms. The music resounds with the stark beauty of a longing for something deeper - that feeling for which there is no name- and then a rhythm follows that lifts and satisfies. Cleverly crafted, the songs evoke introspection. One can easily imagine staring out of window splayed with rain drops in Shiva Raj, or the gentleness of a trickling stream in Amrita. Yet all songs embrace the listener with a sense of warmth and a preciousness in the present moment.
