notes
Music from the mountains has been dubbed as Appalachian style, but within the Appalachian Mountains there are the Blue Ridge Mountains. Tucked in the Blue Ridge Mountains you will find one of the spots richest in history and beauty known as the Great Smoky Mountains.
Folks from the Smoky Mountains are known for their music as well as arts and crafts. The music from the Smoky Mountains has a special
blend of Appalachian sounds with a hint of German and Irish influence. Smoky Mountain Christmas is pure in authenticity and the renditions
of the Christmas Carols played throughout are just as if you were there in the late 1800s. The album includes indigenous song "The Gatlinburg
Carol" and a fun mountain version of "Home for the Holidays" with guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel.

author: R. ArpI love this cd.... Since I live close to the smokies it makes me want to be there.....I especially love Gatlinburg.....So the Gatlinburg Carol is special to me....Could you tell me if you would do a cd of Christmas songs such as Frosty the Snowman.....Jingle Bells etc...I feel those would make great songs to played by dobros etc.

Christmas never sounded so sweet and smoky- smoky like the Great Smoky Mountains, that is. Now bluegrass aficionados can have their favorite holiday songs and carols wrapped up in their preferred package of quality, ringing, tinkling bluegrass and country folk. Simple, light and lovely, "Smoky Mountain Christmas" shuffles through fourteen well-arranged carols for banjo, guitar, fiddle, upright bass and all the usual ingredients for a fingerpicking (and fingerlicking) delicious holiday. This disc will have you shelving the Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby, spurring a new, happy, holiday tradition.
