The West Coast's ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) cap off a year of extensive touring with the release of their fourth album, Fly Between Falls. Over the course of this ten song set, Steve Adams, David Brogan, Zach Gill, and Dan Lebowitz apply the full force of the band's collective consciousness to weave quirky California soul with shape shifting jams, introspective lyrics with sun soaked funk, all infused with the uplifting vibe that ALO's ever growing legion of fans live for.

    that person is right...just think about the time you're spending reading this, and then think about how you could have been listening to the music. still...just because there's more text doesn't mean you should be reading. the only good reason to be reading at this point is if the cd is playing and you're just chilling out to the music. otherwise leave now and buy it slash play it. come on seriously, there's nothing else i can say...you just don't get it. the cd rocks, now go.     I have been into ALO and Jack Johnson, etc for many years and this is the best CD the Animal Liberation Orchestra have put out! The mellow, funky songs are really great for chillin' in the evening. Great playing as well, especially from David Brogan and Zach Gill. Awesome work, guys!

    Really great tracks. Great fun music with nice lyrics that compliment the easy listening vibe. 'Shapeshifter' is a real joy to listen to and I've found meaning and value in the lyrics of all the other songs. Musically very impressive as well. If you like Jack Johnson, try this!

    I Love Love this cd. Girl I wanna lay you down is literally on repeat for half of the day. I'm going to be in nyc in november and i'm going to catch the show. Hope they are as good live as the cd. I highly reccommend this. Smart, sexy and very fun.

    This CD is great. I hear a couple songs and I fell in love instantly. This is one of the best releases this year. I can't stop singing Barbecue or Girl I Wanna Lay You Down. It's like they're stuck in my head! But that's okay, because I like that ;)

    I didn't know much about ALO until I moved to N. CA. The local radio station plays them a lot (104.3 KHUM), and when I went to High Sierra this past July I just had to see them. It was a big time for them too, first time on the BIG stage, and they rocked! Needless to say, I am totally stoked on their CD and can't wait for another.

    I hadn't heard any of their stuff. other than a few clips from this sight. i took a chance that it would be a good cd and i wasn't dissappointed. This album is great. I loved the song Barbeque, Pobrecito, shapeshifter is a great freaking anthem. So from not ever hearing these guys, to now getting a cd was well worth my 10.00 bucks and 2.25 worth of shipping to have this cd in my player and saturation my ears. Cool record.

    I absolutely love this CD. I didn't hear about ALO until after Bonnaroo 2005. I was so bummed that I didn't get the chance to see their set while I was their because their music is incredible. It makes me want to dance when I hear it but yet it still has that laid back feeling like Jack Johnson and Donovan Frankenreiter. Great music for chilling out. Awesome CD.

    Listen to this CD when you are doing your homework and it will make you happy. No matter who you are, there will be 3 or 4 songs that you will absolutely fall in love with. Great song progression all the way through. The mix of style works well from song to song.

    ALO is maybe my discovery of this year. Having seen Zack Gill touring with Jack Johnson in Europe, I had the chance to talk to him after the concert, and, of course, he recomended his ALO album... It is unbelievably good, genuine sound from the heart, you really feel the musicians like what they play, an interesting mixture of funk, rock, soul, laid-down surf-spirit chilling music, that just remains in your ears hopefully for ever... So ALO, can't wait to see and hear more of you over here in Europe! Keep it going the way you did so far, and nothing can go wrong!! Thanks for your music!!

    I ordered this CD (along with Matt Costa's) right when I heard about them through Jack J. I was very pleased with both. ALO CD was very relaxed and easy-going. I totally agree with a reviewer earlier when he/she said they are a mix between Phish and Jack J. The only problem I had with this CD was that during some songs their will be a really awesome beat going and it will suddenly stop.

    Never heard of ALO until my wife and I saw them tour with Jack Johnson. They came close to stealling the show. Our vote was a tie and we will listen to anything both artist records. The members of both bands are close frinds and this is a tour that fans of ALO should not miss. As for this CD it exhibits why they could steal the show.

    This is my first ALO CD and I am very pleased. I cannot get enough of some of these songs. They have a great rythm to them and I always enjoy listening to the CD. I love just popping it in my car and relaxing to ALO as I drive.

    Some great laid back songs here such as "Wasting Time" and "Girl...". Contains a wide range of styles that have no need to follow the "normal" music formula. Only bad thing is not all songs catch and a few you get tired of real quick. A great cd if you need to take it easy and want a break from the ordinary.

Some Phish & Widespread snobs that will listen to nothing else...some Dave Matthews freaks, and some Medeski, Martin & Wood fans (me!), there is never much we can all agree on!     What a crazy CD! I stumbled upon it. LOVED the song 'girl i wanna lay you down' after hearing at the Jack J gig in London shepherds bush empire a couple of weeks ago! Thought Zack was great! Some crazy lyrics though - I have the whole of The N.C. (North Cornwall coast) listening to it now.

    Another great album from a talented band. FBF is a good indication of ALO's fun(ky) relaxed jam style, but you gotta see 'em live to really know how great they are. Check out Time Expander for more funk and either of the first two albums for the fun tunes similar to the last half of this disc.

    Fly Between Falls is by far one of the greatest albums by jam bands out there. The feel of the whole album is a fantastic laid back groove. Once you can dig their music, you'll want to keep ALO close to your hearts. This album is something any fan of folk/groove/jam/etc. music could use in their collection. Buy this and you'll find you can't keep it out of your most frequently played rotation of discs. Keep your eyes and ears out for this band!!

    Great job, guys! I am thoroughly enjoying your CD. I bought it because it has two of my favorite songs (Shapeshifter and Spectrum) and ended falling in love with Barbeque and Possibly Drown. I only give it 4 stars because it's great to listen to for about a week, then when you really sit down with it, nothing really grabs you that hasn't gotten you from the beginning. And after Shapeshifter, I don't really listen to the rest of the album (The Gardener is cool, don't get me wrong, but the album peaks at the jam in Shapeshifter, then the flow goes down, IMO). Still a great CD, though!

    This album does not live up to the hype. I found the lyrics interesting and nice but not lyrical and engaging like the band's collaborator, Jack Johnson. The sound is nice but the music did not grab me like the best jam bands - the musicianship is not up to the likes of a String Cheese or other leading jam bands. It's a nice record but it won't make it in my regular rotation of music.

    I dig ALO, and this album is excellent. For those not familiar, ALO is a jam-band reminiscent of Phish, SCI and moe., but have a sound unique enough and fresh enough to not be sound-alikes. As with most jam-bands their studio songs are typically 1/2 the length of their live songs, but this album is packed with enough songs and jams to give a good idea of what an ALO show is like. Definitely worth the price and more.

    Fly Between Falls - another ALO album I will be pleased to share with anyone I come across - especially in my travels. This most recent music definitely incited some groovin swaying and dancing. I love the diverse instrument introductions and the stepping forward to lead vocals of various band members; creates a CD experience I will look forward to listening to more and more. Can't wait for the next possible live experience! High recommendation.
