notes

The Almighty Rogers was a side project of members of The Convulsions (www.convulsions.com) from Chicago and was really a hobby band exploring each band member's taste in instrumental 60's RnB ("acid jazz" if you must!), heavy 70's rock, and naturally, Western Swing.

The band comprises a core of bass, drums, Hammond organ/harmonica, trumpet, guitar, and even the occasional vocals, and at any one time the live performances may be graced with some of Chicago's finest musicians, as well as members of bands from England, such as the Hustle.

The band really found its groove in 2000-2001 in the informal and raucous back room Tuesday night sessions at the Lyons' Den from which all cuts on this CD were recorded.

Benjamin Ruth: Harmonica/Hammond Organ/Vocals
Bob Goins: Guitar
Darin Mullin's: Bass guitar
John Maloney: Drums
Matt Longbohns: Trumpet

  • I highly recommend this CD!

Another great recommendation from my brother. What a great CD! I listen to it at work and can't wait to listen to it while cruising across the northern plains. Tight music, great musicians, great music.
