notes
The name Alhaj is not strange among Liberian musicians and music lovers.
Alhaj is one of few Afro-Jazz musicians among Liberians.
Referred to as Afro-Jazz Fusion, Alhaj believes that his music bridges the gap between Africans and Americans.
The Washington Post Newspaper recently interviewed Alhaj (go to www.Liberian-Connection.com) and wrote that, "On his newest album, "Moving Into the Light," which he released in 1999 on his own label and is reissuing on his new label, Northside Records LLC, based in Upper Marlboro, Alhaj reflects on his experience straddling cultures of the United States and Africa."
Alhaj is quoted as saying that "We must keep [the bond between the two cultures] intact." Additionally, he said that he is "trying to set a platform where my music can be spiritual, fun and positive.
It can be introspective and make people socially aware while also having a sense of humor.
I try to address the African situation, not just to talk but to create topics of discussion" Alhaj believes that he is "moving into spirituality, karma" and "beginning the final journey into consciousness."

author: Charles L. MassaquoiAlhaj, I listen to your music again, again and again. It is such a good music. Liberia is very proud of you. Please keep up the good job.
Alhaj has made me like this type of music.
author: ScarfaceAlhaj has made me like this type of music. African Jazz is not music that I normally buy but I have this CD and I play it when I am relaxing at home. Nice alternative to the everyday.
