notes
Al Goodwin and the art of the singer/songwriter.
Twelve songs written and recorded by one man on his acoustic guitar at various stages of his life, has been a long time coming, but "Celebrate" is much more than a personal hymn to love, life and friendship. Al Goodwin is part of a new breed of singer/songwriters who grew up with Punk and Indie. After playing in numerous bands throughout the Eighties and Nineties he left the music scene feeling unfulfilled and demoralised, but continued to write and play his own music, recording demos on his laptop at home.
A chance meeting with producer/publisher Dave Whitelock of Smoking Frog Productions resulted in an offer to record at his studio in South Wales earlier this year. The result is twelve beautifully crafted songs featuring Al's searingly honest lyrics and gifted guitar playing.
Backed by a small band of professional musicians in the intimate surroundings of the studio and benefiting from Whitelock's sensitve production, " Celebrate " is inspired songwriting at its very best and will leave a lasting impression on the download generation in search of meaningful and honest songs.
"Did I say that about myself, I'm getting me confused with somebody else. I've always thought that knowledge is wealth, all my riches are for somebody else..." ( Time of my Life )

Very melodic album, great lyrics, great tunes
author: Steve JamesonI found this album by accident and am really knocked out by it. It's very fresh sounding and makes you feel really good. Highly recommended...
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC.
author: Pete DawsonThese songs really grab you instantly and it's rare to hear an album without a weak song on it. The lyrics speak volumes. I'm still still singing the songs in my head as I write this. Can't wait for the next one that Al's working on now. I play guitar and write myself and this is inspiring. Thank you for the music!
Great songs, meaningful lyrics, very fresh and uplifting
author: Cheryl CrissThe CD has a great feel to it, very uplifting and the songs take you through Al's life experiences in a very nice way. The lyrics hold your interest and the melodies are fabulous. I can recommend this to anyone, you'll find it like a breath of fresh air in these chaotic times
