I was born and raised in the bush of Tanzania, Africa. He moved to the city, Dar es Salaam, when he was 13 and started playing professional soccer at 15. I played Soccer all over the world: Tanzania, Djibouti, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, France, Holland, Japan, and the United States. After retiring from playing soccer, I ended up in Seattle, Washington. Here I coach a Youth Select Soccer Team and design, manufacture, and sell soccer uniforms and gear to teams and individuals around the world.

I have always played music since I was a kid, because when you are a bush man, you have to sing and play beats to yourself to keep entertained. In the bush when I was a kid I had no radio or TV. All my life I have been making music in my head.

In 1999, I had the chance to produce an album for "Cool James" Dandu. Also known as Mtoto wa Dandu. The Album was called "CJ Massive: African Most Wanted" and was a big hit in East Africa and in African communities around the world. Sadly, Cool James was killed in a car crash in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Myself and all Tanzanians miss his musical talent. But he inspired me to continue to create music.

This year I have begun putting together my own album. I am going to call this album "Never Before" because it’s a new style of music never heard before.

    This album is WONDERFUL!!!! It has such a happy and uplifting message to share no matter who you are or what kind of music you like. I was washing the dishes, after I put it on, and started dancing at the sink. Was having so much fun I quit doing the dishes and just danced around the house! Equally impressive are the liner notes, which mention that a portion of proceeds will go towards education of AIDS and malaria in Africa, as well as victims of Darfur. One Love Is The Law, indeed. GO ALEX!!!!!

    World music, from a songwriter who is truly a citizen of the world. Reggae, afro-pop and hip-hip influences knit seamlessly together, with a deft rhythmic sensibility. And just enough unexpected instrumentation to keep us all guessing. "One Love is the Law" leads off the collection, with good reason. Over-the-top production could have turned it into just another predictable message tune. Instead, the earnest vocal performances and no-extra-frills arrangement make a statement: This guy MEANS it.

    What a mix of styles and beats and harmonies. "One Love is the Law" is a spiritual anthem. "Like Me" is confidence and happiness in the face of rejection (great melodies and harmony). "Who's the Real Cowboy" - good question and song. Love the whole album.

    Alex delivers a message of love and celebration. The tone is set with the first cut, One Love is the Law, when he says "...we are one tribe." The cd embodies this message, combining styles like world beat, reggae, hip hop, groove/r&b, even some cowboy music. I particularly like the simple melody and easy groove on Malaika, and the make-me-wanna-dance vibe on Babukaju. Great record!

You can hear the influences of African music but the songs are completely modern.
