notes

The Long-awaited debut album of original material from a
renowned Los Angeles entertainer.

Alfred L.Borders proves here on his first official solo release that good music is indeed worth waiting for. On 'Reflections' we find an inspired body of work. A collection of songs together in a thoughtful way that span the course of two decades. Included here are most of the original recordings as well as some updates and some new material.(..even a live recording from a show given on the Queen Mary appears)

Alfred(also known as Dr.Scratch)was born in Oklahoma and raised in California. One of 7 children, he and his gift got an early start by singing in his father's church. A few years later he would follow the music of his soul into a career in music making. This would not always sit well with his father. In a few more years Al would be working the L.A. club circuit to success. Already known as a boss musician(flute, piano)he would now begin to be recognized as an amazing vocalist and band leader. Around this time Alfred would go on to play gigs with Yusef Lateef, Hugh Masekela(at the Watts Festival), and Wilson Picket in Las Vegas. This would ultimately lead to a gig with Marvin Gaye. Alfred soon became lead-backup vocalist for Marvin Gaye and toured with him during his 'Here, My Dear' period(1979-81). Other notable collaborations would include Brenda Holloway and the Whispers.

'Reflections' is a musical look at life through the sounds of memory.'- Alfred L.
