notes
After founding Nauvoo River Records & Publishing, Alan released "Each Life That Touches Ours for Good," an instrumental album performed on the grand piano, a compilation of some of Alan's favorite hymns. He received the inspiration for this album from fans who persuaded him to record the album. "For years I have sat down to play these reflective and soothing hymns," Alan said, "and my listeners have been asking for a recording." One day Alan went to a nearby chapel after hearing a very beautiful hymn in his head. "I didn't know the hymn very well. I wondered what it was titled. Then "Each Life" came to my mind. I found a hymn book, prepared to start looking in the index, when the book opened directly to the page of "Each Life That Touches Ours for Good. I was very amazed." After the project was complete Lena Hughes, President and CEO of Hughes Entertainment Inc. in Branson, Missouri, said: "Alan's new hymn arrangements are masterful and incredibly inspiring. His music takes me beyond here and now to a more beautiful and tranquil place."
Today, Alan is composing music for the upcoming dramatic musical "Dreamland," by David Dickson, whom Alan met while working on a national film project together. "While working on the set, Dave asked to hear my songs. One night he came to my home and I shared my music." When the night was over Dave told Alan that though he loves all of Alan's music, one song really touched him, "Dream a Dream," a song Alan wrote for his elementary school tour to help children have better self-esteem. Dave shared his desire to write a musical based on that song, which Alan agreed to, and the collaboration began. "I am still writing the music which is some of the most awesome and amazing music I have ever written," Alan says with a smile. "I couldn't have written these songs without having come to Nauvoo first."
