When I find myself stuck in the restrictions of my idea of who I think I am supposed to be I have to force my self to stop and look at who I really am. For the past ten years I have voiced my lyrics through many different bands and many different styles. All of which I learned from and loved. Some were not as true to me as I wanted them to be and some fit like the friend they were. I decided this past year to go back to my initial baby instincts I had when I started writing ten years ago, the simplistic approach of honesty.
I am sharing with you a live recording that is filled with my exploration of this step. So please forgive me for all the mistakes and flaws this raw and vulnerable recording holds. I give you my heart, which is undoubtedly "IMPERFECT"

    This is a truly great live cd. Amy Jo's songs are so full of beauty and emotion, and her spoken segments between songs are very touching. I love the song Julia Roberts, it's got a great bit of a stab at the superficial world of Hollywood to it. A definite must for any Amy Jo fan, and well worth checking out if you're new to her.

    The person as much as the music are just purely amazing. If you're a fan like me -and if not, you need to be, or will be very soon- you'll love everything about this CD.     The cd arrived today. I knew it would be good, simply from the samples available. I was right. The music is great, the live sound suits the set. Amys voice is one that you can easily fall asleep listening to. The voice you hope to hear say I love you before you drift off to dream. She has a voice that shows a true passion in her songs, and on Imperfect, it comes across just like that. If you dont buy this cd, you're missing out. It will definately calm the storm inside after a rough day. Five stars.

    I've been listening to both this and Mrs Johnson's 2001 release "Transamerican Treatment" for a month now, and without a doubt, the live is the better of the two. With her sweet 1st alto voice, stripped bare on the stage, performing music of this emotional depth can never be so honest in the studio. Emotions like these need those subtle "Imperfections" in order to stay honest to those emotions, the artist, and the audience. Well done AJ.

    I was present at the September 11, 2004 concert at the Genghis Cohen Restaurant in L.A. where this CD was recorded. It doesn't quite capture the atmosphere of that night (what CD can?) but it does capture Amy Jo's gorgeously sexy voice (not to mention her incredible vocal power, which hits like a heavyweight boxer's knockout punch) and thought-provoking lyrics. By far, "Blue Butterfly Boy," "Puddle of Grace" and the laugh inducing "Julia Roberts" are the best cuts, while "Panic" is better on her first album than it is here; it's just missing texture with only her and bassist Zuma playing it. Fans of folk rock (and especially of Amy Jo herself...like me :D) are well-advised to score this CD.

    this cd is so amazing. her journal entries are thought provoking and beautiful. i love blue butterfly boy, dancing in-between, self destructing and julia roberts. the only thing that confused me was the fact that her song counting sheep is on it, but she changed the name to idealistic daydream. the whle cd however is a treasure and i am sooooo happy i bought this one. now that i have them both, i am very very happy

    Let me begin by pointing out that this isn't a full length CD album. It contains 9 songs and comes in a cardboard sleeve. Out of the nine songs, a hand-full of which are from her first album but presented as live recordings. The new songs are impeccable especially “Julia Roberts” and “Self-destruction”. Fans who watch Amy on felicity would be pleased to find the song “Puddle of grace” on this CD. The quality of this recording is brilliant, however with only nine songs, some of which are really short in length, leaves listeners partially unsatisfied but no doubt a great CD to add to your collection.

    I cannot get enough of the song "julia roberts." It's the most perfect meeting of song & sweet, beautiful voice. My copy does not have "clear blue day," so that may be an addition to later releases & it'd certainly be one worth having. It's easily my favorite AJJ song & has yet to be released anywhere. I just may be re-ordering this title for that alone! :)

    Fans of Amy Jo's Trans-American Treatment will love this. Imperfect contains some of the most poetic lyrics I have heard. Her songs fit elegantly into the simple acoustic format and bristle with honesty, humility and a dozen other emotions. I would recommend this album to anyone even if they're not normally given to acoustic folk rock.

    Having brought her first album 3 years ago, this record is just as good, if not better. If may have less songs, but it makes up in spirit and voice. Wonderful songs with great emotion and inspiration. Amy is the best raw singing voice I have ever heard. Loved her in concert, this CD brings me back to the concert I saw in New York City. Absolutely love the CD. Can't wait til the next one :)
