    I'm so glad I bought this CD. I feel like I made an investment in something important. Miss Emme's unforgettable voice would lure sirens to their deaths, and I don't know of any other female pop singers out there that not only write but perform all of the instruments on their albums. Ainjel Emme is definitely the best kept secret in the Western US!

    I'll say one thing, the woman can write a hook. Long As It's Sweet and Summer Life are easily the catchiest tunes - I couldn't get either of them out of my head for weeks. And though one or two songs are forgettable (especially the straining-toward-soprano Frozen Lake), it's, well, a hell of a lot better than I could ever do, and a good deal better than most of what's out there. Albums like this remind me that the difference between stardom and selling your own CDs is utterly random.

    It's hard to say something great about this CD that hasn't already been said. Without a big budget, and without a million dollar production team this CD is a gem in the independent's landscape. The songs are tight, well played and passionate, with direct lyrics and tastefully chosen poetry. Even though the later half of the album seems to loose some of it's familiar musical feel, a dozen listens still breeds something new and exciting, right to the bitter end.

    When I first heard Ainjel's music on her Web site, I went back several times a day for weeks to listen to those songs again. When her album came out, I bought it as soon as I could, and it has not left the CD player in my car for more than a day since.

    I assume that 5 stars is good, since according to the key, it's not on the chart. But yes, this CD is that good. Wow. Everyone should have a copy. "Heartache is Boring" will improve your life! It will help you grow your hair, shrink your waistline, and get dates.

    Having heard tracks from this for the last couple years, I was anxious to hear the entire CD. I could barely contain myself when it arrived and I haven't been able to turn it off. Ainjel's voice and lyrics speak to me and the music is fantastic. Any praise I could give it just wouldn't be good enough to describe how much I love this CD.

    Positives: The disc has great melodies and original guitar work.There is a deep groove through every song. Negatives: Offensive bass tuning on first couple of songs. Cd Mastering is a little weak. Some tracks just don't sound well when you turn up the volume.

    I've been hearing bits and pieces of Ainjel's music for years on various sites we've both belonged to, so you can only imagine how thrilled I am to finally have a cd that I can play whenever I want. She's an amazing musician as well as a great friend.

    I was randomly looking through the new arrivals in cdbaby on the day that this album first turned up. What good fortune for me. I listened to the 3 song samples (2 of which are full length on the artists web site), and was immediately ‘grabbed’ by the music. The moment the music started I was intrigued by the sound, and then the voice started and I was entranced. By the next day I was determined to buy the album, however it had sold out already! I registered to be informed when it came back. While I was at work it came back in stock, but by the time I got home to order it was sold out again. When it finally arrived back again a few days later I ordered it online from work!! The CD arrived in the mail today, it is fantastic. Don’t think the 3 picked out for sampling are the best, there are 10 fantastic tracks on the disc. Recommendation: Buy the album (don’t wait, this one seems popular! It turned up on best sellers of the week in its first week of existence on cdbaby!), sit in your most comfortable chair, turn the stereo up and be transported into Ainjel Emme musical world. When the next album is released I will be among the first to buy it.

    This record is so inspiring. I love it. The first time I heard it, I liked it right away. But it grows on you even more with each listen. The musicanship along with Ainjel's wonderful voice gives each song a spirituality that is absolutely penetrating. Fragile, confessional, soulful and beautiful. I can sit and listen calmly, run about the house doing chores, but the one thing I can't stop doing (and don't want to) is stop singing these songs. Forever.

    I *love* this album!! "Easier" + "Set Up for a Fall" can almost continuously be heard bumping in my car or through my own cracked voice as I sing along in the shower. Ainjel's song writing is sublime - she doesn't just write what we're all thinking, but what we're all afraid to say. As an extremely accomplished musician in her own right, you can hear her work her instrumental magic through and through. She will be taking over the airwaves, then the world. She's absolutely magical.
