notes

Starting their musical existence from a series of hodgepodge bands that played a show or two here and there, Apathy For an Enemy have evolved into something mature that has been playing shows all over the state of Michigan, as well as out of state.

After being a band for roughly one month, Apathy for an Enemy went into the studio (Alliance Studios) for their first recording – a self-titled, 3-track demo. They released the demo in the fall of 2004 and proceeded to sell hundreds of copies. This encouraged the band to keep pushing forward. After playing a series of shows with national and local acts, AFAE had saved up enough money to record their first full length, “Ending Tonight.” This time they went to a Mark Michalik of Flint, Michigan owner and operator of Sentient Studios. In June 2005, they entered the studio and spent 3 days recording. Later, in mid-July, they spent another 3 days putting the finishing touches on what was soon to be their entrance onto the local scene as a respectable punk rock quartet.

Apathy released this full-length CD on September 16th, 2005 to a crowd of 425 expectant fans at the Annex in Brighton, Michigan. From the start of 2006, they played many shows to promote the release of their full-length, “Ending Tonight”. Early in 2006 the band played with Chiodos (Equal Vision) at another packed house in Davisburg, Michigan. After selling even more copies of their CD, they were encouraged to go on tour by Macro Booking. Leaving on March 25th, they visited Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and ended up back in Michigan on March 31st to end the tour.

Again, they returned to play local shows around Michigan to raise money for their upcoming events. In the summer of 2006, Apathy jumped at the chance to play on the Local Stage at the Vans’ Warped Tour in Detroit on July 29th. With one of the largest crowds seen on the Local Stage, they brought a new expectation for their fans as well as themselves. Soon after playing Warped Tour they took off to Sentient Studios again (now located in Chicago) to record their new 5-track EP that has yet to be released. Playing at some of the largest venues in Detroit (St. Andrew’s, The Shelter, Alvin’s) and playing with some big names like Chiodos (Equal Vision), Portugal. The Man (Fearless) Much the Same (Nitro Records) and No Trigger (Nitro Records) are some of Apathy for an Enemy’s other accomplishments.

Bringing a relief to cookie cutter expectations, Apathy for an Enemy have a combination of vision and sincerity that is almost non-existent among today’s stagnant scene. With energetic vocals and catchy guitar harmonies, this band is sure to be one of your most played.
