Who is Adam Payne?
The problem with rising acoustic talents is that a lot of them sound the same; but there is no mistaking the sultry sounds of Adam Payne. With a smile and sound as big as his afro, Adam entertains full crowds with his fusion of Funk, R&B, Folk, and Acoustic.
There's no denying his musical talents...so the question is, who is he?
Adam is about as eclectic as his sound. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts to an Italian mother and African American father. In the late eighties, Adam and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida. By the age of 8, Adam drew his musical inspiration not from haughty music teachers, such as Mozart or Beethoven, but from Saturday morning cartoons, Sonic the hedgehog and Mario. Adam picked up the piano as he mimicked the music from cartoons and video games. During his senior year of High School he took on the guitar and the drums. Although music is a major part of who he is, there's much more to him than that.
In 2002, Adam earned a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Statistics and was a founding father of the Eta Psi Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at the University of Central Florida. He continued on to earn a M.A. in Industrial Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2004. These days, Adam works at Bentley College by day, and by night, can be found vibing out solo, or with the full band, 2Adam12.
So who is Adam Payne? He'll make you dance, make you smile, and help you with your homework all in one day. He's the Northeast's resident father of "Soul Rock" and he's coming to a venue near you.
JUST ME (2006)
This album is dedicated to my Ma, the late Jane, and my brother Matt...Two people whom I owe everything positive in my life. And the late Ray Chicca, my grandmother, for inspiring me to have strength in even the most unfavorable of situations. A huge thanks to Mik Mersha for taking time out of his life to make this happen -- it's much appreciated, man. I'd also like to acknowledge everybody who has helped to nudge me along with kind words, reassurance, and smiles. Youz really keep me going. While I'm at it, let me thank everyone that has ever negatively affected my life; without you all, I'd never know how not to be, so I thank you.
The songs on here are varied. Some old, some fresh out of the oven. I have never been one to gloat on my own creations, but I do hope that something finds you. If not, try some weird business, like listening to it while slicing red bell peppers, or syncing it with the movie 'Falling Down.' Whatever itches your pits. Please choose your own adventure with these songs, and make of them what you wish.
There is much more to say, and much more that could have been done with this album. I may come back to these songs later and fill in a few spaces with other instruments and such, but for now, it's just the bare bones. Just the lyrics and a guitar. Just me. I thank you.

This CD saved me
author: Emile D.I recently just got out of a 6 year relationship. It's been tough to say the least. My friend Jen told me about adam payne so i checked his myspace page and bought the just me cd. After listening to it once i was blown away by how real the words are. They spoke to me and allowed me to realize that even though times can and will be hard there is always something to live for. It doesn't matter how bad you feel, or how much you might hate poeple...everything in life is a gift. Thank you Adam. You have changed my life for the better.
Good effort
author: Karl C.I saw Adam at Cornelia Street Cafe several months ago, and I must say that his live performance outdoes this album. He was doing all sorts of vocal and guitar looping, mixing in harmonies and even beatboxing. I especially enjoy 'No Regrets' as well as 'Sally' on the album, but both songs are better live. Buy the album, but think of it as a precursor to the live show. He seems to tour around alot.
Nice
author: Marie LeClaireThis CD is awesome for anytime. I listen to it often on the way to work (long commute) and it definitely puts me at ease amonst the traffic. I bet Mr. Payne has the same calming affect on the ladies! Buy the cd and chill out to the lucious and sultry sounds of a quiet crooner. mmm.

author: K.C.not sure how I came across this cd i think i got kind of lost through other pages but im glad i found it i just got my copy over the weekend and it sounds great real smooth but with a raw edge to it id love to hear what this kid can do live buy the cd its great
Fresh
author: Reggie - Mobile ALI picked this cd up for the wife and gave it a listen. Its great! The vocals are brutally honest you feel like you're in Adam's head as he is experiencing this varied emotional journey of love, lust, breakup, renewal, and personal refelctions. We have alot of acoustic style stuff in the player at home but this one stands out. Its genuine, raw & contemplative. You don't find that type of emotion in most of the insincere crap thats out there these days. I strongly reccommend this album!
Refreshing!
author: Stephanie Crosby, Northest In-Tune MagazineOne thing that makes me very happy, music-wise, is an artist comfortably seated in their own style. Adam Payne, a superb singer/songwriter from the Boston area, is the latest to restore my faith in musiciankind. Payne crafts a supercool blend of acoustic singer/songwriter and soul, with twinges of modern R&B and rap. It is a true joy to listen to a musician who knows himself and his strengths well enough to do interesting things!
Smooth and worth it!
author: Elaine HoffmanThis is a great CD. It's one that you can put in and listen to the whole way through with ease. Mr. Payne takes the simplicity of the acoustic sound, and definitely kicks it up a notch. Make the purchase!
