Who the hell are they talking about???

Anything Box is an array of guitars, noise and computers to create binary tripped-out, emotionally tinged elektrodelic (Claude's word) pop music. The name comes from an obscure Sci-Fi short story from the 60's about a young girl who sees an idealized fantasy world when she cups her two hands.

Anything Box began in the bedroom of lead singer/songwriter Claude S. as an escape from the banality of everyday life in Paterson NJ, an urban town whose claim to fame is a High School principal who carried a bat in the halls, and where the first Colt 45 was built. Amidst the drug deals outside his kitchen window and bar fights across the street, Claude dove within the introverted comfort of songwriting influenced by John Lennon, Disco, Pink Floyd, The Kinks, Joy Division, New Order, and Kraftwerk.

After 25 releases and over 300 shows to match, Abox (as they are known to their fans) has since become an international oddity of "elektrodelic" pop music.

On this album, Anything Box delves deeper into the farther reaches of the un-punkt disco closet where dreams are amplified by distortion and words you can remember, like a fantasy of the powerpuff girls hiding from robots in the back seat of your car. They are here to stay. The robots agree.

    English version: This album breakes the boundaries of any previous work by AB. Full of rock guitars and basic drums, this record takes you to the 60's and 70's. However, keeps Claude's sweet voice and the electronic samplings and arrangements of this decade. This could have been a record of The Diary... it should have. The highlights are 'Led' -born to be a hit-, 'One minute 40 seconds' -The Diary's style- and the last hidden track -a sweet and catchy ballad-. As usual, the artwork is excellent, and so are the messages conveyed in which they anticipate that 'This will look familiar one day.' This record sounds a bit like The Beatles, Oasis, and Sex Pistols at times. Highly recommended for electronic pop lovers who appreciate the format of a traditional rock band. Overview: very good Vocals: excellent Arrangements: excellent Track choice: very good Duration: excellent Artwork: excellent Packaging: good Spanish version: Este álbum realmente rompe los parámetros de todos los trabajos anteriores de AB. Cargado de guitarras rockeras y baterías crudas, este disco te transporta a los años 60 y 70 pero manteniendo la voz dulce de Claude y los arreglos y samplings electrónicos de esta década. Bien podría haber sido un disco de The Diary... debería haberlo sido. Se destacan "Led" (nacido para ser un hit), "One minute 40 seconds" (al estilo de The Diary) y el último track oculto (una balada suave y super pegadiza). El arte del disco es excelente como acostumbra AB, lo mismo que los mensajes incluidos, donde se anticipa que "This will look familiar one day" (algún día esto será familiar). Por momentos suena parecido a The Beatles, a Oasis y a Sex Pistols. Altamente recomendable para amantes del pop electrónico que aprecian el formato de banda de rock tradicional.     Nice disc. Good play all of the way through, with the last couple of tracks just as enjoyable as the first few. I expect it to get better as I listen to it more. That's how their discs usually work for me.

    I have all A-Box albums, have seen them twice and have a shirt that Claude, Dania, and Gary autographed while I was wearing it (now in a frame). I will always be an A-Box fan, but this album will be listened to the least. Claude, please go back to the sounds that made A-Box successful.

    I was pretty disappointed with this album; it sounded more like a bunch of jam sessions than anything else. I absolutely loved The Universe Is Expanding, Hope, and Worth; but this one was just too repetitive and lacked the soul that previous AB's albums had...

    This cd is simply amazing. The overall production is great, from the artwork on the cd right down to the melodies itself. Anything Box just seems to top themselves off with just about every album release. This cd is by far not synthesized driven but it is in fact ABOX driven, the songs and the melodies is what makes this a genuine Anything Box classic.

    With The Effects of Stereo TV, Anything Box treads further into the ways of mainstream rock, but maintain their creative edge and unique flavor that is distinctively Abox. TV mixes the band's trademark electronics and fuses in element of rock, punk, electronica and a taste of The Beatles. My far, the loudest, most abrasive, and raw sounding album they've done. It starts out rocking with Led and Madelyne, before shifting into the dreamy, hypnotic Neuropathic Halos. The band really shines on Love is Lo-Fi which comes as close to their older sound than any other track. As a whole, the album is a sonic journey, and definitely an experiment in a new sound for the band. It rocks, it's playful, and although it leaves you yearning for more, it satisfies your soul, and that is a strength the band has not left behind despite the new influences. Not your old Anything Box . . . but definitely worth checking out.
