Abdi Behravanfar - Most people were introduced to Abdi's creativity through his close friendship with Mohsen Namjoo and their collaboration in the underground Rock band MUD.

Abdi has also been featured in the documentary "Diazpam-e 10"(I am Mohsen Namjoo) and has been serving up his unique blend of Blues and Persian Folk Music for several years.

"Shalamrood" is his first solo album , drawing from a wide range of music styles "from Haj Ghorban to Son House" to share and express his deepest personal feelings.

  • Proper Persian Blues - Original Stuff
    author: Ash, Dublin, Ireland

I -like many- first heard Abdi Behravanfar's work from his collaboration with MUD bank. I remember a brilliant song they put up for Tehran Avenue Music Festival 3-4 years ago called "vagh-vagh e sag" (barking of the dog). Absolutely fantastic stuff but I couldn't find anything else about them. Then the Mohsen Namjoo craze began and I found his work quiet interesting. Watched the documentary about him on YouTube, and found out Abdi's effect on his works. And here's his solo album. The album is more of a straight-forward blues style (slightly white-blues type of thing, like SRV), rather than fusion - with the exception of a couple of tracks, most notably the last track (10). What makes the album exceptional to other similar works is it's extremely poignant lyrics and Abdi's unique cynic view of the world which very much comes from the heart and describes how a person in his position would "feel" in Iran. It's as genuine and Original as it gets! The tracks are well constructed and with very good musicmanship. My favourites are 6, 7 and 10. Well done Abdi, and looking forward to more brilliant works from you.
