notes

This belly dance album is dedicated to beginning as well as for advanced oriental bellydancers.

Its a CD in honor of HATSHEPSUT, the Queen pharao who ruled over Egypt thousands of years ago. The great Egyptian queen was one of the most innovating, clever and daring empresses of the world. Until the anti-feminist army forces removed her name on all the official buildings.

The title piece "Hatshepsut part 1" includes instruments like guembri, bassoon, flute, darabukka, soprano saxophone and a bunka-bunk. Abdel Hazim composed the music, the arrangements and played all of the ethnic instruments like guembri, Egyptian kaval, systrum and derwish drum.

The rest of the tracks are crispy ethno-tribal rhythms arranged and composed by Abdel Hazim. Trance tribal like Ayoubi (2 Beat Rhythm) and Gulf tribal like Khaleedji.
The music can be used for belly dance shows, dance-classes oriental dance, tribal workshops, biodanza.

The selection of rhythms from Syria, the Gulf region, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Egypt are played by master percussionist Abed Halabi in a production of Abdel Hazim. Master percussionist Abed Helaby from Lebanon played the drum solo on maqsoum and Egyptian percussion instruments like deff, mazhar, darabukka and sagat.

Leff Sariya is fast Leff (Malfuf) rhythm from Lebanon-Syria.
Abed Halabi - here on dumbek - started to write his first compositions under the production of Abdel Hazim.

Une sélection des rhythmes orientales tant qu'un morceau pharaonique "Hatshepsut". Retour au base de la musique du Moyen Orient.

This is a really lovely, refreshing and very danceable CD! Instrumentation is rich, with enough whimsy to capture the imagination and take you far away to magical mythical lands.

Great rhythms - Little heavier than I had wanted but true it does make you want to dance! I would definintely play it at a Hafla AND there are two that I would use for a drum solo.

The Music is mesmerizing! You can either relax or dance what every your fancy. I even have to let everyone know my DOG is equally enchanted as I. I am expecting her to dance any minute!

  • Fantastic! Evocative! Energizing and relaxing at once.

The CD lives up to the sound clips and is flawless throughout, which prompted me to make my first online purchase. I play it for my K-8th grade students during my music lesson on North Africa and the Middle East. They love it too! Though I must add that this was probably geared for adults, as I have an extremely low tolerance for kid music. I never have to skip tracks to wait for a better song, 'cause they are all great.

  • A definite "5" stars!

I bought this CD on a whim, and it ended up being my favorite of all the ones I purchased. "Hatshepsut" (both versions, one is Ayoub and one is beledi), Maqsoum, and the Derboukka solo are the best, but all are great! Very danceable music that is different from everything else!

  • The music calls to my body and it tells me to dance.
    author: Firefly

Very thoughtful, sensual, and provoking music. It calls to my body, spiraling down from my fingertips, descending down to my hips. It slowly pierces through the flesh to meet my soul.
