notes

An eclectic musician, in search of something much greater than himself, Ramaya Soskin has been writing and performing music in Boulder Colorado since 2000. Starting first at Naropa University, he formed a trio named Specter X. While maturing as a songwriter he practiced his craft and soon started the band SLOWROSA with local songstress Cate Coslor, Tres Altman, Chris Mustaine and Jeb Bows. The band performed with acts such as Devotchka, The Fray, and The Czars at Boulder's "Fox" and "Boulder Theatre". The bands' representation; Brian Schwartz (Dinosaur Jr. and Rose Hill Drive) was a great support, but the act was unable to continue in it's present form. Visit myspace.com/SLOWROSA for more info. All in all, Ramaya and the bands he has been a part of have shared evenings with: Nellie McCay, Mannequin Makeout, Bluebook, Chris Pureka, Strangers Die Everyday, Max Davies and Tongue Noir, Dechen Hawk & Old Soul, Gregory Alan Isakov & The Frieght, Clay Rose, The Paper Stars, Punkalele, The Hot IQ's, Matson Jones, Libby Kirkpatrick, Bright Channel, Buck 65, County Road X, Shanti Groove, Porlolo, New Dialectic, Ian Cooke, Mark Darling, and even Fiona Apple (for five minutes with his friend Greg Isakov). Now performing under the name "A. Ballad Nightly", Ramaya has crafted a set of new material, both haunting and revealing. His debut CD is a collection of delicate lullabyes, saucy rockers, and sultry ballads. Written and recorded in his shoebox of a home, it will surely make it's mark in many hearts. The work and energy that is contained within this album is the product of years of exemplary song writing and performance. "All in Good Time" is the culmination of an artist searching for the "lost chord". Ramaya is a superlative musician with consummate ability and wherewithal. A genuine labor of love that has transcended the pitfalls and the morass of Protools tweekery. xo Rams

  • A Perfect Balance!

This is one of the best CDs I've ever heard - I've been playing it continuously for months. Ramaya sounds like two great vocalists rolled into one - a sweet voiced balladeer, and a gutsy rock singer. There is balance between angelic violins and dirty bass that is perfect. Above all, this CD is downright sexy.

During the couple months when I first heard The Painter it didn't leave my stereo. Seldom do I find such songs that continually capture my emotional interest. A wonderful soundscape to my life at that time. Thank you Ramaya!

There is great sound to be heard hear. The kind of music I listen to curled up on the couch by the fire after a long day, it provides a nice comfort that carries you away to daydream of the songs themselves and smile

Simultaneously blending echoes of Iron and Wine, Ryan Adams, Wilco and Jeff Buckley, this album somehow engages both the daring spirit and tender vulnerability. Wrapping up gentle folk in lush pop harmonies, cradling thoughtful songwriting with sometimes-hushed, sometimes-assertive vocals that are threaded through these songs like a golden thread, the songs on All in Good Time capture a unique pocket of inspired and sincere writing, serving as a culmination of “sensitive male folk pop” but with volumes of courage and determination. Somewhere between the rush of falling in love and the beautiful bitterness of having your heart broken, you’ll find emotions so delicious that you can’t quite let them go; such is the magic of A. Ballad Nightly.

I love this album, so thoughtfully done. It sounds like...whiskey burn, candle wax dripping, cat stretching, goodnight sweet dream mornings. This kids got soul. Give a listen to "all in good time".
