notes

INISH, a husband and wife duo, perform an eclectic mix of Celtic segues, Original songs and other Folk Music. Their original line-up comprises of Marian Carter - Tenor & Soprano Recorders, Clarinet and Vocals and Barry Carter - Guitars, Vocals, Djembe, Bodhran, Composition and Arranging.

Their debut album is entitled 'For Cryin' Out Loud!' and has two original songs, two original instrumentals plus a cover of a Fairport Convention song, (written by Richard Thompson and David Swarbrick) on board. The rest of the tracks are their own arrangements of traditional celtic pieces.

Guest musicians appear with Bassoon, Classical Guitar, Violins (sorry Fiddles) and Button Accordion in hand. (Sorry there is no Clarinet on this record but we use it in our shows a lot and it will be on the next record we release.)

INISH has been performing together since about 1995 under a couple of different names, settling on INISH about 1999.
Marian is from New York and Barry is from New Zealand.

This CD is a great mix of original tunes with a few traditional ones thrown in for good measure. The vocals and lyrics are excellent, I love 'I Saw a Clown', very clever use of words.

  • Nice.
