notes

A pure power trio in every sense of the word, Five Minute Major was originally formed in 1994, and they appeared on the cd "Urban Mayhem vol. 1" produced by Toby Z. & Sound Image Studios in early '97. A succession of bassists later, the present-day lineup of RUSS (guitars, vocals) ROBERT (DRUMS & lumber management) and CHRIS (Le Beastro) (Bass, vocals) has been terrorizing SLC and surrounding states since Nov. '97. With the release of HEADSTAGE on Jan 1st,2000, Five Minute Major recieved critical acclaim from the press--and thrilled/confused/battered audiences around the west with their no-holds-barred,athletic musical style. A second cd, (Souprize!!) was released Aug. 31st 2001 and can be found on CDBaby, Baby!

  • Some of the most interesting heavy rock I've heard in some time!

The boys waste NO time letting you know where they're going with this one. "nuthin'" kicks in like a runaway freight train loaded with dynamite. Even though they hail from Utah,I could have sworn this was pure New York Hardcore. By the time you get to track 3,"drak" you're not sure what you're listening to, but it's so damn interesting, heavy and catchy you can't turn it off! The bottom line is that HEADSTAGE would make a great addition to any music lover's collection!

  • Holy Hell Batman!

These guys rock! If you are tired of being kept under the thumb of transnational corporate greed and bullshit exploitative authority trips, you'll love this rebellious attitude. These guys are sick and tired of domination that is painted up as 'democracy' and aren't afraid to say it. If you are a suzy (or scotty) creamcheese, don't bother with this one. Some people just don't get it. On the other hand, if you hate being a 'free' wage/ideology-slave check it out.

  • Top 50 local cd's/ 2000.
author: Salt Lake City Weekly Aug. 2000

Like a tricked-out Camaro flying off a cliff at 200 mph, Five Minute Major is too fast to live, too fast to care, and too fast to replace that smelly tree on the rear view mirror--impact is imminent, man.A veritable convenience store of speedy riffs, kill-em-all attitude, and punk-metal abandon, you'd have to rewind the security video to tell if HEADSTAGE stole anything. Parents, police and posers beware.

  • Wow.
    author: Slug Mag, Feb. 2000

Their brand of punk walks the line between poppy and militant, with better results than we've seen from signed bands serving up similar sounds.
