notes
Portland's 44 Long: Indie? Pop? Americana? Straight up rock? Swamp? Alt Country? Who Cares? Whatever it is, GREIL MARCUS of Rolling Stone loved the first album, "Collect Them All" (number 7 of his favorite things in 1997). Chris Morris of Billboard loved the 2nd album, "Inside the Horse's Head" ("...darkhorse pick of the year..."). CMJ, Puncture, No Depression, ArtForum Intl., Spin, The Oregonian, The Orange County Register, The Austin Chronicle and dailies across the country - they've all touted the sincerity and delivery of the songs. On May 2nd, 2006, the band unleashes "Hangover Heights Part 2". We'll see how they like this one. KCRW in L.A. is already playing the record.
Brian Berg writes and records the stuff in his studio. He's joined by Andy Ricker (also in The Quags) on guitar, backing vocals and bass, with Cory Burden (Blubinos and many more) on drums and backing vocals. Berg leads on guitar and vocals and adds tracks of all color to the mix. The Oregonian's Marty Hughley has called the live band "supremely rocking", "blazing" and "charismatic". Hangover Heights Part 1" is in the can and slated for December '06 release.

author: REDROCKSBrian Berg's music is incredibly catchy, worth every penny and many repeat plays. Don't hesitate, buy this album. We play it loud-and then we play it again. That's just how it goes with his genius songwriting and instrumental arrangement. It's a contagious sound whether you prefer slow or fast songs-there's a good mix of both to be found here. He layers sound that gets it into your head and won't let go. If you've liked 44 Long's previous work, or are new to his work, then lucky you b/c here's another 11 songs to fill your day and life with.
